The first shot of the hero is a shot of him actually eating a raw carrot (he later uses that carrot to kill a man.) Later, the villain’s ringtone is revealed to be the bit from Ride of the Valkyries that Elmer Fudd sang “Kill the wabbit” to. It’s not subtle. 
Is it on Netflix or any other streaming service?
After this thread, I had to watch it again. And all I can say is:* “Talk about shooting your load”.*
I’m not sure that this post had anything to do with the topic, but I suspect that there is more than that to have done well over the years.
Black Panther was an Oscar Picture of the Year Nominee.
Gravity was, at its heart, just a disaster pic, which are themselves all action movies - even if it’s just “Run away! Run away!” rather than “Punch! Shoot!” action.
District 9 and Avatar are both just action movies, political messages notwithstanding.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, obviously.
And, unless you watch the extended editions, I’d probably say that both of the latter two films in the Lord of the Rings were little more than action movies. After I saw one of the extended versions, I called it “The version with dialogue”.
