I just saw on the local news that last night some guy shot someone on the street a couple blocks from my house, then followed him into a wine bar where I hang out sometimes, and took everyone inside hostage and shot a couple more people. I’m in New York City, and this neighborhood was really dangerous 10-15 years ago, but I think of it as safe these days. I walk home alone at night all the time. Scary.
I like in a suburb of Houston, nice neighbourhood… a couple years ago there was a guy pulled from his car, beaten at shot, 6 a.m., at the intersection a few blocks from my house where I buy donuts in the morning sometimes.
Stuff happens. The SO wonders why I never want to walk or bike anywhere here.
