Yeah, but do purses get caught in machinery during class?
Yes, this story was put out there because of transphobia, it still doesn’t mean that having your hair hanging loose while using power tools isn’t just begging for a Darwin Award. No matter your gender identity. Gender identity also has nothing to do with whether a person is stupid – that’s just a human thing.
And, as we all know, you can’t fix stupid.
(Not to mention, I can’t imagine being that big and not needing some kind of support – her back must be killing her)
Is it a wise fashion choice? Hell no, she looks like a clown and is going to throw out her back. If it a serious problem that’s going to damage her students? No. Will it distract her students? When they first encounter it, no doubt. After they’ve had 15 minutes to get used to it? Probably not.
I remember the first day my employer dropped “business suits”. I spent half the day trying not to stare at my coworkers. I got over it, of course.
OK, so if the school board has issued a statement confirming that the pictured person is actually a teacher in the district, could someone link to that statement? Because so far, the only statement I’ve seen from the district is that the pictured person is not Stephen Hannah.
I have seen nothing indicating the school said they don’t know who the picture is of.
And I would not expect them to ever say it was in fact a picture of her, since they said this was an internal personnel matter. But the fact they said it was not the male teacher suggests they would also say if it wasn’t the female teacher.
What female teacher? You’re assuming that the female teacher exists. If this “Kayla Lemieux” doesn’t actually exist, then they wouldn’t be able to say whether the picture was actually “Kayla Lemieux” or not.
Here, again, is the only statement anyone has linked to from the school board:
“We cannot confirm the identity of the individual in the photos/videos/radio segments”. That sure sounds to me like they don’t know who it is. Or maybe it’s a privacy matter, but then why would they have confirmed that it wasn’t Stephen Hanna? Surely, saying who it isn’t is just as much a privacy violation.
And if, hypothetically, “Kayla Lemieux” didn’t exist at all and were entirely the fabrication of trolls, what would be different about the school board’s statement?
Further, if this person actually exists and is actually a high school teacher, then she interacts with hundreds of other people every day, most of whom have no contractual obligation to privacy concerning her. Not one of her students has come forward and given a statement to the media, or even to the “media”, that “Yes, that’s my shop teacher, Ms. Lemieux”?
To some extent, whether or not it is a privacy violation depends on how the person involved feels about it. It is not inconceivable that Stephen Hanna allowed ( or even asked ) the school district to clarify that he is not the person pictured while the person in the photos has not given the district permission to release their pre-transition name even while the school district knows exactly who is in the photos. As far as the students giving statements to the “media” , my understanding is that the reason for “Stephen Hanna” being given as the pre-transition name of Kayla Lemieux was because people identifying themselves as students claimed on social media that Kayla Lemieux was formerly known as Stephen Hanna.
I hadn’t seen the actual social media posts, just articles referring to them. But now that I’ve clicked through on one of them I found this, from https://twitter.com/Slatzism
Further, a student who showed me his OTHS student ID advised that this person was previously known as Stephen Hanna. Reduxx did not run this as verified because all we could confirm for certain was the other name, thanks to the Directory.
Good for you, the shock you got not seeing business suits on coworkers was over in 15 minutes. And you say the same is probably true of students of shop teacher? It’s okay for you so everyone in school should just chill the fuck out and act like it’s normal teacher attire?
You’d be okay with QAnon shaman coming to school in body paint and horns? Because they’d all get used to it in 15 minutes right?
Yes, it’s coming from Reduxx, a radical anti-trans web site. That Twitter account belongs to an employee of that site. That’s where this stuff is coming from.
