Well, it seems that nobody is saying much about the story. I’ve checked the QVC community forums several times since the story came out: total silence. Either the posters over there haven’t heard about the story, or the QVC mods are poofing any thread people try to start about it.
The other media outlets haven’t picked up the story. There is only the original NYDN article and a link back to it on Topix. Guess Ripka is not as big a celebrity as she thinks she is.
Well I’m back from vacation to sunny Florida. Hope everyone had a good holiday. Not much for me to snark about since Lisa’s departure. I did notice yesterday she posted a picture of a pile of paperwork she was organizing. Unfortunately you could see her address on a note from a florist. Yeah…that’s really a smart thing to do if you have stalkers! People were posting her to tell her to delete the photo and she finally did. But it was visable for several hours before she removed it.
I’ve noticed she still posts pics several times a day but she rarely ever answers questions her fans keep asking her. And it’s not the usual “why did you quit…where are you going to work now” questions. Some are fashion and decorating questions. Some are just comments wishing her well that I think justifies at least a “thank you” reply.
I just wonder if her legion of fans will support her with whatever she ends up doing. I’m thinking she had better do something soon or…out of sight, out of mind!
While stuck watching the Barely Breezies family (hard looking momma and her daughters) present their cheap quality bras…do they remind anyone else of the Beverly Hillbillies?
Any thoughts on the new Monday night Q line-up starting in March? Evidently Shawn announced it last night. One hour of Amy with Inspired Style, then an hour of Amy with Lori Goldstein, followed by Shawn and Isaac for an hour, ending with two hours of PMS with Shawn.
SHAWN!!! That is the one that surprises me the most – not too sure how I’ll like her in that role. Also wonder how she finagled it!
I like Amy and am happy to see her Inspired Style show on at an earlier hour.
Shawn has the most cult following and sparks the most controversy and will probably draw more viewers in to the shows. Look who she is replacing our #1 snark hostess. whether you like her or not she generates talk and thus will have watchers who may slip up and actually buy something. Qvc knows how the viewers feel but still ignore the customers with ther:smack: same old products and lunatic hosts.
I doubt I’ll watch many shows with Shawn. Sometimes she looks and sounds fine, but other times she acts very annoying and looks like she dressed out of a rag bag. I just don’t think she projects a consistently good image for QVC.
Not that it matters, with the boring QVC products! I agree, same old stuff over and over. QVC used to have interesting products you couldn’t find elsewhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if the real reason Lisa quit was because she was bored to death.
On a different topic, did anybody notice the QVC Community blog where the hosts posed for pictures with their mothers, and quoted the best advice their mothers gave them? It’s called “On the Scene Blog: Best Advice from Mom.” It’s just a few lines from each of the 13 hosts who participated. (I tried putting the link, but it was about a mile long. You can go to the QVC Community page and click on that blog.)
Shawn looks very pretty in the pic with her and her mom; it looks like an old pic from her newscaster days. The advice she remembers from her mom: “You gave your kids two things, roots and wings.” Albany posed with her mom, and they have matching red hair. Courtney’s mom is quite youthful, and looks just like her daughter.
Watching Stacey and the OAP present an electric cookie press. Even the OAP could not get anything more than a blob to come out. I looked at the reviews…yup 65/1 star reviews. A product has to be really terrible to score that low. It’s at a clearance price, but they should be paying people to take it.
Aw…Jayne theBitchBrown needs our encouragement to keep going with her NewYearNewYou pledge!
She worked out too much. The woman can barely walk on a normal day, and Q demands she get on a workout routine to hawk a few exercise products.
Honestly, the hosts doing the New Year New You pledge/program and wanting us to do it with them is NOT an incentive to me at all. It just makes me feel guilty or resentful. lol. If I’m going to start getting fit, it is going to have to come from me.
Mama Gendel I can almost understand, I write her off as a woman of a certain age stuck in the look of her heyday. Unfortunate, but it happens. It’s her girls that get me…do they not have friends their own age to fashion themselves after? Surely even down in the holler, young gals these days have caught up with the times at least a little? Maybe Mama forces them to style themselves after her and they do it because…paycheck? It’s a mystery.
Is that the Kitchenaid one? I think I saw that same one another time, and it didn’t work then either. DV and the OAP tried to wave it off as due to hot studio lights. I was skeptical, then, too. LOL
They can’t even really motivate me to snark watch since the holidays have been over, never mind anything else. zzzzzz Of course, a lot of the usual suspects have been on vaca so maybe the snark factor will amp up soon as they return?
Ah, ok, thanks! Not that I’m in the market for a cookie press, just curious. I think the KA one I saw was a regular manual one. I kinda felt bad for the KA rep that it wasn’t working. I have a hard time watching her because she is squirrely as fuck, yet also seems like a nice lady and she is always so earnest so it pains me to snark on her.
Ok, I’m Canadian, and I didnt grow up mythologizing the former First Lady in the same way y’all do down south of the 49th. But this presentation on TSC bugged me…because they talk about JK in the present tense. As in, ‘who speaks fluent French? Jackie does!’
Shades of Lisa Robertson! The ghost of the high society sales pitch returns. I was watching Rebecca on JTV overnight when she was presenting Moda di Pietra costume jewelry (it’s gold-plated bronze, like the Bronzo stuff on QVC.) She was wearing a necklace, bracelet and earrings with lapis beads. She held up her wrist and started gushing so hard she was almost ran out of breath: “This looks like you shopped on Fifth Avenue! Just look at me! I look like I’m wearing thousands!”
Uh, NO. The jewelry was pretty, but get real, Rebecca. It was a 50-dollar necklace, a 40-dollar bracelet and a 40-dollar pair of earrings. Not exactly the New York Old Money look.
