In the last 4 days, I’ve spent about 250 dollars of my student loan on Magic: the Gathering singles. I’m excited. I made up this list of cards to buy like a year ago and I’m finally doing it. It’s a bunch of old decks that I used to play with back in my competitive days. (here’s a list of decks)
Wildfire
Fires of Yavimaya
Pirates
Stasis
Saproling Cluster infinite mana
Counter Magpie
Sligh
and then 2 more that I can’t remember.
Anyone do anything that was an irresponsible waste of money like this recently?
You remind me of a guy who lived two rooms down from me in college who blew (and I mean BLEW!) his grant on a new stereo system. IIRC, he got the whole ball of wax from Marantz, which has never been particularly cheap - tuner, amp, cassette deck, turntable and speakers. (This is before CDs were common.)
Not sure how he thought he’d be able to keep getting a grant secret from his parents, who were under the impression that they had to pay all of the tuition.
Nope. IIRC, the problem wasn’t so much the parents, but the grant people. Might have been Pell?) At any rate, the almost sitcom-worthy story was someone may have blabbed, and the grant people and/or parents wanted to come by for a visit, so this guy shows up at my door with an amp and asks if he can leave it for a while.
Educational Darwinism took care of him - he wasn’t back for spring semester.
I blew a new paycheck I haven’t even gotten yet at J Crew. Technically on work clothes, but I don’t really neeeeeed another suit… I just wanted one. I was real good and didn’t look at shoes or bathing suits at all!
Well, then, if you want pictures, I’ll certainly have them taken. I also got two pairs of shoes, including platform flip-flops. They make me feel so tall. Zsofia, I’m really starting to like suits. I only have one, but I’m constantly on the lookout for others. The only problem is that I can’t seem to find suits with trousers, just suits with weirdly cut skirts.
