I used to be a redhead. Until yesterday.
I have auburn hair; & it has been…ummm…enhanced for over two decades. Especially since I started going grey about 5 years ago. Due to ack menopause, me hair has become thinner & finer…it no longer looks good long, and the dye was just making it dry & dull. Yesterday, I went to my hair guy & asked for a BDH. Short & spiky. I wanted him to dye my hair silver just to take the plunge fully, but he wouldn’t do that. I’m going to have to let it grow in. Wish me stregnth.
I’ve always been “the sexy redhead with the big boobs.” Now I feel like the middle aged grey haired woman with big boobs. I went from the salon to get my oil changed & another customer at Grease Monkey asked me for a date!
That made me feel much better. But I know I’ll still need stregnth in the coming months. This is quite a milestone, you know.
:sigh: I feel so…old. When do I get the 19 year old & the Porsche?
God bless you for letting nature take its course! I’m sure you’re still beautiful, Carina42. I have a few years yet before I have to retire as the ‘redhead with the big boobs’. I’ll send you that Porsche and 19 year old *real * soon.
My grand-uncle Skuli had red hair. As he aged, white hairs began to come in. From a distance, Uncle Skuli had pink hair. I don’t want that to happen. Unfortunately, the oddly coloured hairs on my head are white, so it probably will.
You could always go blond.
Works well over gray, and roots not nearly as noticeable so you can be less than diligent about touch-ups.
At least that’s what my Mom does…I wouldn’t know nuthin’ about gray hairs as this deep, dark, glossy brown mane is totally my own natural color.
You & L’Oreal, Sue…'cause you’re worth it.
Actually I tried going blonde many moons ago. It looked utterly horrible. I don’t have that fair pretty complexion many redheads do & it just looked fake. I’m committed to going grey now…I feel like it’s a new phase & all that.
Ginger Ooohh…pink hair would be too cool! Heh…you’re young. Just wait until you’re 40-[sub]mumble-something (OK 43)[/sub]…then I’ll be sending YOU the Porsche & the 19 yr old.
Actually I know a couple of very beautiful women with grey hair. And some who don’t look real glamorous with it. I suspect I’ll be in the latter category, but I shall forge on.
Its all about attitude.
Seriously. My mom is older than you and the words “cute” “adorable” and “pretty” all still apply. (She recently did this blonde streak thing, I was impressed, she looked really really good!)
The smile, humor and grace of a wonderful person don’t fade with time and are truly beautiful.
(And then there are throwbacks like my dad who refuse to age at all. At least I have the blonde hair that goes grey all at once.)
