So called Latinos don’t see themselves as brown as they are classified in the US, that is totally a US thing. They see themselves as European, Spanish, and mixed. They are extremely racist in their home countries, just look at those LA council members.
The best analogy is that they see themselves as the Irish or Italians did when they integrated into US culture. The easiest way to become white in the US is to put down the black descendants of slavery, or “Black Americans”
Black Africans and black islanders think the same way but get a rude awaking when they are just seen as black by most people in the US. They will still go out of their to say no I’m not black I’m from Jamaica or Kenya or what ever.
Very few actually black Americans descended from slaves will vote for Trump, they just won’t vote at all.
But plenty of so called Latinos and African blacks will.

The first thing the Irish did was to fully embrace white supremacy by breaking black people’s heads in NYC as police in the 1800’s. Really look up the history on this. This is what young black people see happing again right now.
Black people descended from slaves as I was, fought many battles to improve this country. It’s perceived that these immigrants are now walking into the country and being given everything and shitting on us, but they couldn’t even fight to improve their own country.
So yes Biden will most likely lose the young black vote.
I’m not trying to speak for any one person, I’m saying that overall, the countries the immigrants are coming from are racist. They are bringing that attitude here and we black descendants of slaves know it.
This includes immigrants from Africa, so quick to say they are not black they are from Kenya or Nigeria, or Zimbabwe or whatever. Not understanding US culture. This is the reality, its not some big black- brown kumbaya, and remember unlike most people on this board I deal with them all the time.
Harris has an issue because she is Indian, not native American Indian, they are known to be super racist against black people, along with Asians. They are following US white supremacy too the letter.
Forgive me for nitpicking if you can, but Kamala Harris was a prosecutor in Alameda County and San Francisco.
Putting that aside, I question how widespread knowledge is, in swing states, of how tough a DA she was. Then there is the fact that a lot of African-Americans favor tough on crime politicians. That helps explain why the mayor-elect of Philadelphia favors stop and frisk.
Then there is the problem of who Biden would replace her with. If he replaced Kamala with a swing state politician, such as Whitmer or Shapiro – and that makes the most sense if doing this for electoral reasons – the VP nominee would no longer be Black. I’d think the kind of Black voter who calls Harris an uncle tom would not like that either. And if Harris was replaced by another Black, white swing voters would be reminded of something about the Biden administration – lots of Black appointees – that many of them do not like.
I don’t dismiss your idea that a Black VP candidate, descended from slaves, would have had more electoral appeal. In 2020, I was hoping BIden would pick Val Demings. But as can be seen from my link, she could also be criticized from the left. And for reasons stated earlier, it is too late now.
What are their expectations regarding this? If they are expecting a big fat check from Uncle Sam as recompense for the historical injustice they suffered, they are unlikely to be satisfied. As well as the difficulty defining who is black enough to get a check, a Democrat who took such a stance would win the black vote but lose the everyone else vote, and given that the everyone else vote is seven times the black vote its not going to be good politics.
I see the right wing divide an conquer rhetoric of the lucky ducky immigrants being given first class treatment unavailable to “real” Americans is being successful, but its just more right wing lies. Yes, they get a modest allowance to help them settle, but its peanuts in the grand scheme of the overall poverty assistance budget. So I’m not sure how Biden can change policy to win over voters who are upset over things he isn’t actually doing.
They are not getting cash money no. But they are getting a huge helping hand, but I’m dealing with the asylum seekers. They are getting put up in the same hotel as I am as a working man. With three meals a day from the local army base which all our taxes pay for. I get 20 dollars from my company, anything more is out of my pocket. sometimes I’ll be in that hotel for more than 30 hours. Truckers get less or nothing. I went into this on another thread.
Now there are rumors they are getting full enhanced ID to travel on airplanes, which I don’t even have. I have to go and dig up all my records to apply for it. I have a regular driver’s license .
It just looks bad to the average person, as if everything Trump was saying about the Democrats is true.
Except they will most like lean conservative when they do start voting, but maybe his handlers understand that too and are playing both sides.
split_p_j isn’t unusual in knowing about this. Local news stories about recent immigrants being put up in hotels help Trump. However, so far, I have not heard about it in Pennsylvania, and it does not seem to be an issue in other swing states:
In general, undocumented migrants, and asylum seekers, already know friends and family, in the U.S., and quickly go into the shadows without getting government assistance. My impression is that the recent exceptions – asylum seekers entering the U.S. without family here – are often from Venezuela.
The only tie-in to Kamala Harris is her thankless assignment to somehow be in charge of the U.S.-Mexico border.
I’m in upstate near Albany NY, my away terminal is near Boston just to clarify. And I’m dealing with asylum seekers, which I get are different., but most people I deal with don’t.
The problem with Harris as VP is that the demographic she may have appealed to 3 years ago is effectively gone.
The campaign hasn’t even started yet. Polls are meaningless at this point, and I think you’re going to find that a lot of fence-sitters are going to be much less conflicted when they’re looking at a ballot with two sets of names that matter on it.
I was asked for cites, I gave them. So because it doesn’t fit with your narrative the polls are meaning less? Is that all you have for a reply?
I’m giving a view in to the mindset of a voting block that the dems need to win. I just got threatened to be kicked off the thread and accused of being a racist over this.
