Should have had a sequel

I know, I know, not many people are fans of the sequel, but aren’t there ever some movies out there you feel SHOULD have been finished? Movies that didn’t end the way you thought they should have? movies that shouldn’t have ended? It wouldn’t even have to be a whole movie…maybe even a half hour or so, making sure there was an ending. I have several in mind, but i am working on narrowing them down to 5 choices.

Buckaroo Banzai should have had the sequel they promised – Buckaroo Banzai vs. The World Crime League.

I know I’ll probably get stoned to death for saying this, but I always thought E.T. should have a sequel.

For years I said the movie “Silence of the Lambs” was naturally set up for a sequel.

Now there’s one in the works (but I guess Jodi Foster won’t be involved, maybe not Anthony Hopkins either).

Hopkins is back for the sequel, but not Jodie Foster or original director Jonathan Demme, both of whom (off the record) hated the sequel novel and refused to have anything to do with the film. Doesn’t bode well, in my opinion.

Director for the sequel is Ridley Scott; Clarice Starling will be played by Julianne Moore.

Regarding the OP: I’m looking forward to the sequel to The Mask of Zorro. Not really what you were asking, i.e. sequels that aren’t likely to exist, but what the heck. Maybe along those lines, I’d enjoy an Alien sequel that doesn’t suck.

P.S. Big second to the Buckaroo Banzai mention.

It’s called Hannibal, based on the book of the same name, which many people seem to loathe, but I rather liked it. It’s not for the faint of heart, though. Certain parts even grossed me out, which is NOT an easy thing to do.

Julianne Moore will be assuming the role of Clarice Starling, and I think I heard that Anthony Hopkins will indeed be reprising his role as Lecter.

Jodie Foster’s reason for turning down the sequel was, depending on the source, either she doesn’t like what happens to Starling in the end, or she is too busy with other projects. Anyway, I think Julianne Moore will be great.

Beatlejuice
Beatlejuice
Beatlejuice!

there should have been a sequel.
sigh
Would ahve been much better than M. Keaton as Batman.

“Who Framed Roger Rabbit.”

Been in the blender at Disney since the original came out but has now officially been abandoned.

I would’ve liked a sequel to ET too, but it may be too late now.
Peace,

There’s a sequel to Sixth Sense in the works. Not saying it’ll actually happen.

They shoulda made History Of The World, Part II. I really wanted to see Hitler On Ice and Jews In Space.

I have heard many times that another Indy Jones project is underway. Early reports indicate it involves Atlantis. Rumored to be in production or release by 2002.
I can’t wait. Indy Jones/Harrison Ford is the best American hero since John Wayne.

A Jurrasic Park sequel. It is listed at the IMDB, but I don’t think anything is green lit.

I hear there’s a ‘Blair Witch Project’ sequel in the works.
I’m game, but it seems I’m one of only a handful of non-critics who liked the original.

A sequel novel to E.T. was actually written. It is called E.T.: The Book of the Green Planet. I read it when I was much younger and liked it quite a bit. It’s out of print and written for younger readers IIRC, but I do recall it being a fun book.

[li]Innerspace II[/li][li]Airplane III (we were expecting it :D)[/li][li]Star Trek X: Please the Damn Trekkies[/li][/ul]

vandal… a third Jurassic Park? I think the first two were enough. I liked them both but I don’t want it turning into one of those things where there are multiple sequels and each one is worse then the last…

At first when I saw the title Ghost thought like a good one but then I decided no it doesn’t need one. I’d like to see another Blade movie come out. The way it ended it suggested the possibility so I can only hope.

Topaz,

Your Sig reminded me that I have always wanted to see a sequel to Army of Darkness.

I’d like to see a sequel to Swingers.

Kevin Samith had a sequel for Mallrats in mind that was basicly Die Hard in a Mall. Would have been cool. Won’t happen though…may come out as a comic.
I think a sequel to Highlander where Connor wakes up and realizes that the last two movies were a dream and goes on with his life unbothered by other immortals would be cool.
The new(er) Maverick was good, I’d like to see another.
