Should I get my eyebrow pierced?

I got my eyebrow pierced about four years ago and I loved it. Also, it looked great on me, and I am a girl. Plus, I have glasses. And no, they never got in the way. Also, I’m definitely a face fidgeter, so much so that I can’t even wear eye make-up, and it never got in my way except for sleeping in certain positions. Almost everyone thought it looked good on me (no, they weren’t just being nice) even my mother and others who don’t like that sort of thing.
Unfortunately I don’t have it anymore cause it grew out. Apparently that just happens sometimes. I think mine started doing that cause I started sleeping on my tummy. It didn’t hurt at all…just started growing out slowly til there was just a little piece of skin holding it in, then it fell out. I have a tiny scar left but it’s hardly noticeable.

It didn’t really hurt at all. For me, they used a clampy thing to grab the skin where they were going to pierce. That was just pressure, and when they inserted the needle in I couldn’t even feel it. However, when I stood up I nearly fainted. Had to sit down for a few minutes, and was kinda nauseous (FWIW, I get nauseous really easily). It was a bit sore for a little while after that, but no more than any other piercing I’ve ever got.

I checked out your pics and the thing is the first few were a bit different from the last two. Anyone else get that impression? Of course, it is hard to tell from pics what someone really looks like. However, IMHO, I think you’d look really good with an eyebrow piercing. More so if you look more like the first pics, but even if the last ones are more recent. Of course, everyone’s going to see something different and this is just my opinion. If you do get the piercing, some people are going to think it looks good and some aren’t, no matter what. What matters is if you like it, and if you don’t it’s pretty easy to just take it out. You probably won’t have a big scar or anything.

And if I do get it – ring, or barbell? Which would look better?
IMHO, ring. I just don’t think barbells ever look good. Again, that’s just an opinion and you should do whichever you think looks best. Try holding both up (perhaps tape them up for a sec) against your face and you’ll get a bit of a feel for which one you like better.

As for the “If you have to ask, you shouldn’t do it” thing, I agree with your take on it as you wrote in your second post.

I think the average human is born with enough holes in his/her head already. I think piercings are ugly. Not to mention the associated risks of infection, etc. I am simply incapable of taking anyone I see with piercings seriously, just like I couldn’t take punks with mohawks seriously in the 80s. Perhaps at the ripe old age of 33, I am now so set in my ways that I can’t see any logic in such radical displays of “individuality.”

Only get your eyebrow pierced if you’re going to get six of them in your eyebrow then attach a wee shower curtain.

What sort of job will you be looking for? And one of your photos looked as if it was taken in a dorm room. What sort of job are you planning on getting when you graduate college?

I’d advise against you getting your brow pierced. But keep in mind that I think growth markets for the present and future are in antibacterial ointments and tattoo removal. What seems really cool during spring break might seem unwise when there are 4 other people with no piercings or visible tatoos waiting with you to see the Human Resources personage for the same job.

I’ve heard it called a monroe, a madonna, and a crawford. I’ve also heard it called a medusa, but moreso when it’s at the centre above the upper lip.

If you want to do it, then do it. If you aren’t sure if you want to do it, don’t do it. You will never regret NOT doing it, but you can easily regret doing it.

But I think the real question here is:
Why do you have pictures of cows on your wall?

Wow, I go away for a day and geez… I didn’t expect this many responses. A few replies…

Winterwren - I look awful in hats, so I don’t wear them, don’t usually wrap anything around my head, so I should be okay on that point. The only piercings I’ve had are in my ears, so none of them have grown out, but they also haven’t even closed even a little when I leave my earrings out for a few days – I just got three of them a few months ago. So I should be okay for healing. I do sleep on my side, but it’s my right side, and I’d be getting the left brow pierced, so it shouldn’t affect it too much, I believe. Thank you for the vote of confidence.

Kezermezer - The first and last pics are the oldest, taken three years ago, actually. The three in the middle are more recent, the third and fourth being taken in the past few months. I have yet to actually check out any jewelry, which is why I wasn’t sure about the ring/barbell issue. Thanks for your opinion, I’ll look more into a ring.

Ranger - For the summer, I’m just looking for a job to make money, probably retail of some sort. I’m a musician, singer/songwriter mostly, so after college I’ll be looking for a job somehow related to the music industry. Likely I’ll end up working retail until/unless I can work my way in/up. I don’t really think anyplace I’d be applying will be overly concerned about an eyebrow ring, but the restaurant that I’ve worked at when I’m home for the past three years has a rule against that, and unnaturally colored hair, so I’d like to head that off at the pass if I can.

GuanoLad - Ah, the cows. I like cows. I have a thing for cows, and moreso, anything with black-and-white cow spots. I have some stuffed cows, cow-spotted pillow cases, a comforter with cows on it, a cow poster (on another wall) and cow-spotted seat covers in my car. My dream car is a cow-spotted VW convertible New Beetle with fluffy orange interior. Yes, I’m weird. The pictures on that wall are from last years cow calendar. I pulled it apart for decoration. Ain’t they cute? :slight_smile:

I won’t be able to for a little while, as my monetary state is rather grim at the moment, but when I can afford it, I am pretty certain I will do it. I will let you all know how it goes if I go through with it. Thanks! More opinions and advice are still very welcome, though!

Well, at one point I was periced. I’m not anymore. It left a narely scar on my eyebrow…I woulden’t suggest it.
