Should I get an eyebrow peircing?

I am a 17 year old, and I was wondering if a eyebrow peircing would suit me or not, just some IMO please:)

Sorry about the messy hair, its early.

No, it would look terrible on you.

To be fair, it’s a terrible picture. With your head tilted down like that, you look like the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland.

That said, a simple eyebrow piercing is one of the least awful things a seventeen year old is likely to do to their body, and eventually the hole can close up, leaving a little ball of gristle when you decide that it wasn’t a good idea.

I wear glasses, and thought that people should get dual eyebrow piercings and make glasses frames with no arms - and hang the glasses from the eyebrows. I guess it might not be a good thing if you get surprised on a regular basis.

I think you should go ahead, if you like it! I find the eyebrow piercings a little bit cringe-inducing, but you have nice strong eyebrows, and more importantly, plenty of distance between your brow and lashes (you don’t want them getting tangled).

Ever been pierced? How does your skin react to piercings normally? Follow all the care instructions, you don’t want an infected blob right on your face.

Good luck! Show us a pic!

Yes, I know, you’re 17 and adventurous but know that many older people around you - some who will be making decisions about you. . will think you have poor or immature judgment. Do you want people to think that of you ?

You are fast approaching the age where you cannot pass off bad ideas to the silliness of youth. Body piercings are a bit of a rebellious look and “for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”. . ! Good luck -

@Anaamika I have not had a peircing before, this would be the first, Ive been thinking of getting one for awhile, if I do I’ll post it:)
@Toastmaker Judgement is a hell of a thing, one of the worst traits of the human race. I understand your point and its a very good one but eyebrow peircings can be taken out and return to normal, so it’s not permanent.

I’ve read the comments, but I’ve not looked at your pic. My thought: Do It. You’re 17. Do dumb shit. Pierce things. If you take the piercing out, you’ll heal quickly. My best gf and I at your age were wacky and got <gasp> double piercings in our earlobes! We were crazy. We were duller than ditchwater but we thought we were badass. We weren’t.

This is exactly why I like piercings. I confess that I am one of the dreaded body piercers; I pierced my nose when I was 18 (and I am now 39 and I still have it in). I love it and will probably not ever take it out.

BUT, if I did decide to, well, the piercing is a tiny hole. It will close up and leave a tiny scar. I just don’t care about a tiny scar.

Also, people will judge you for breathing. I’m sure they thought I was ‘rebellious’ when I got it, but I got it because I am an E.Indian living in the States who has almost nothing in common with her birth country. I pierced it to have some connection with my heritage, and that’s why I still wear it.

If you plan to be a lawyer or something one day you’ll have to remove it. Otherwise, you’re 17! Now is the time to have fun. If you’re going to college, they just do not give a shit at most colleges.

Bro, 1999 was 16 years ago.

Thanks Captain Obvious!

I might give it a whirl, any specific eyebrow jewellery that looks good on men?

Look in your father’s tackle box.

If you really want my opinion, no - eyebrow piercings always look stupid, unless you are an Ubangi exchange student, or work in a circus.

Women may have up to two piercings per ear, and one per nose.

Men may have one ear pierced.

That is it.

Shodan

Lol, that’s indeed a strict opinion, why?

We get all kinds here. This forum is for people’s individual opinions, and if you ask, you’ll get 'em.

Shodan, did your mom say that? I always like to hear what she thinks.

Because it’s mine.

No, she says whatever her grandchildren do is fine. Anything more is Not Done.

My sister-in-law is a lovely person, and I love her. She has what amounts to sleeve tattoos on both arms, both legs, the back of her head, and a pink mohawk.

But no eyebrow piercings. So my mom has gotten used to it (my brother has been married to his wife for almost forty years).

Who Has One Ear Pierced, and Is Thinking of Getting a Tattoo. But That’s Different

How do your parents feel about the issue? You don’t say what state you live in, but most likely you will need their expressed, written permission to legally get any piercing before you turn 18.

Do your career aspirations extend beyond being a barista? Then no.

About 20 years ago (yes I’m old) my friend got her eyebrow pierced. Spent $65 or whatever it was back then on it. Went to sleep that night, woke up the next morning with blood all over her pillow - the jewellery had caught on her pillowcase and ripped out. Total waste of $65.

Moral of the story: if you do get an eyebrow piercing, put medical tape or something over it before going to sleep.

PS: Did you ask Imgur what they think too? You know their rule about selfies…

Here’s my two cents, for what it’s worth:

I would discourage my kids from getting an eyebrow piercing, however, my nephew got his eyebrow pierced at 18, and my sister was okay with it. The grandparents didn’t like it, but got over it. He wore it for awhile and got bored with it and took it out.

The nephew is now 28 and a staff sergeant in the Air Force. He just bought his first house and is officially a grown up.

Go. Do. You’re only young once.

Years ago, when I got my belly button done, a friend of mine got his eyebrow done. It took forever to heal, but that is mostly because when he was drunk, he would hang his keys from it. Don’t do that.

I have told my daughter that it is her body. I would prefer it if she didn’t poke extra holes in her face, and wait until she is about 25 before getting any tattoos. What is cool when you are 17, 18, 19 is not as awesome when you are 30. It’s your face and you are 17, if you want to, go ahead. If you don’t like it, you can always take it out.

Just get it done properly. And don’t hang your keys from it.
