Should I give Last Comic Standing another chance?

From what I understand, the actual last part is accurate–the comedian that the TV audience votes for is the one that wins.

Also, I would have no problem with planted comics in the beginning, as long as they didn’t go on to the house. And nearly every reality show will do the thing where they keep the most controversial person on for a while–though I’m not sure how it could work in the format given.

Wached last night, and as expected, Kaplan and Johnagin were the only ones meriting more than an occasional chuckle.

Unfortunately, if last night is any indication, DeStefano is going to win this in a walk based on sheer volume and obnoxiousness. He’s got his whole “working-class hero, regular joe, angry guy at the bar” shtick down pat. He doesn’t even have to tell jokes now – he can just yell and the audience will lap that shit right up.

I think that I am usually pretty discerning when it comes to stand-up comedy (or maybe I am not watching the right stand-ups, as I am underwhelmed by the vast majority of SUC’s that I see on various late-night talkshows) but if Mike DeStefano is who I think he is, he has been the most consistantly entertaining of all the remaining contestants.

He is no Richard Pryor, but he is at least the best of a decidedly mediocre lot.

Does anyone know what happens next?

When I watched before, the comics all moved into a house together, and had assorted “comedy challenges” (do a stand-up set in a laundromat, go to a costume shop and come up with something on the spot, using cheesy costumes and dime-store props, etc.) and also had head-to-head eliminations in front of a live audience.

Will this year’s Last Comic Standing follow a similar format?

Yeah, I’m pretty much done with that show.

Naaa, they’ve ditched the “Big Brother” style, and went straight “American Idol” – everyone performs every week, people vote, the bottom couple of comics are eliminated. No challenges or other crap like that.
