Was Last Comic Standing supposed last this many episodes, or was it getting poor ratings so they were told to wrap it up early?
Though I have watched each episode so far, the entire thing has been the very definition of “meh” which was a SDMB term I didn’t actually know the meaning of until watching this season’s Last Comic Standing.
That said, is this the single least-expensive-to-produce prime time network television show in history? If not, it must be damn close…
Also, I would bet that either Mike or Myq will end up winning on monday night.
I was thinking it would come down to Felipe Esparza and Mike DeStefano.
And as for the show lasting longer, I thought it would last as long as, or close to America’s Got Talent. Unless that ends on this coming Wed.
Wait, what? Shouldn’t there be another episode before the finale? The usual MO is 5 to 3 then 3 to 1, not 5 to 1.
That’s why I’m curious if Monday’s finale is rushed or if it was planned.
Good question. I would guess that cheap gameshows like “Minute to Win It” are cheaper, though.
Shows you what I know.
And Natasha Leggero may not be very funny, but she is pretty hot…
What. The. Fuck.
I guess it’s true that all reality shows are rigged.
It’s crazy that he won, worst of everyone in the final 10. Every year I complain about the person who wins and every time I watch again the following year. It’s my own fault.
Why the hate for Felipe? I thought he was consistently solid throughout this short season. Oh well, humor is subjective after all.
Edit: I didn’t think his performance tonight was all that great, but then even the professionals weren’t all that great either.
I caught a few episodes.
I kinda figured that Felipe would win, he had the entire minority and big type of thing going on. - The most marketable [read different].
I was shocked that the one timid looking guy with the glasses and flashy suit left as early as he did. [Last week was it?]
I love the idea of LCS in theory. In execution, except for Season 2, it has sucked big time. They always seem to go with the unfunny. I just had to stop watching because I would get so pissed almost every week about who got to stay on.
Just like me, only I stopped watching half way through. I decided to give it another chance this time, and although over-all I found it meh I didn’t think this season was too bad.
The judge natasha ripped a joke of someone about reality shows being confusing. Anyone catch that?
“Tonight, the bottom 2 decide which 6 will join the final five.”
I know I’ve heard that joke somewhere, can anyone tell me where?
I wouldn’t say he was the worst of the ten, because the old guy was even less funny. But no way should he have even been in the top 5. If they wanted a “different” sort of winner to look all multi-cultural, why couldn’t they kept on the hispanic lady from the semi-finals with the killer joke about her sister being her boss for every job on her resume - including having worked for NASA? She was great.

It was in the pre-season commercials.

It was in the pre-season commercials.
Cite? That just doesn’t make sense cause it was a “live” stand up last night and I don’t remember seeing her making jokes in the pre-season commercials, especially since I only watch the show online. I coulda sworn that it was from this season but that one of the tryout comedians made the joke.

Yeah, that Nasa bit was a great bit. I also forgot about the old guy, you’re right, he was pretty bad. It’s not like Felipe wasn’t funny, he was only kinda funny without any real flow to his set. He is really just that funny guy from high school who makes people laugh during lunch. He was extremely unpolished and maybe that’s what bothers me. Maybe in 5 years, he will be the biggest stand up draw on the planet, but I doubt it. I’d put money on Roy Wood Jr or Myq Kaplan (who may not be the biggest, but he will definitely develop a cult following).

Well put, Felipe had a handful of good jokes, but his overall performance level was a step below the other 4 finalists.
I wasn’t going to post this (dont wan’t to look like another SDMB Cafe Society poseur) but to my sense of humor, the final five finished in the exact opposite order that I would have placed them in.
I thought Myq then Mike were the two funniest comics in the running, and Roy was also very good. Wasn’t into Tommy Jonigan, but he had a few good bits on occasion…
Felipe was (IMHO) the least comic standing last night, but I hope he enjoys his newfound success.
I had it DVR’d and I was completely underwhelmed as I watched it tonight
.
Two shitty comics that couldn’t induce a chuckle out of me. The “judges” performances were crap as well.
Total waste of time.
Thumbs down.
I’m going with the producers realizing that this season was very mediocre, and putting it out of it’s misery with the rushed finale. No one was really good, even the guests and judges, in the finale. Iliza was even disappointing, but still smoking.
I actually picked Johnagin to win. Not a great comedian (he should get better, though), but my wife thought he was hilarious!
