To report back in, I have now received a $20 gift card from the OP for Amazon. I’m still not quite sure how that verifies that he was legitimate in his feelings over this whole situation, but he did “put up or shut up” or so to speak.
Mav, I’m sorry if my opinions have hurt your feelings. It’s a very difficult tight rope to walk when, as your teacher had done, being nice to someone results in more problems. You were not hearing us in leaving her alone, so being as stern as this forum would allow seemed the only way to go. And considering we have many a drive-by poster who is out only for their own amusement, it’s also hard to sometimes understand that, despite how it looks, there are people who are honest and sincere, if terribly misguided. I now believe this rarified place must be where you fall.
As such, I do hope you take the previous advice. Let your teacher be, concentrate on yourself, learn from what’s happened, and eventually, find you a nice young woman who can reciprocate your feelings. And just so you know, you really don’t have to buy anyone’s belief in you. This is the internet. Toss the ample bad, retain any good you find, but overall, grow as thick a skin as possible and grow. That’s the best any of us can hope for.
