Should I post a link to my competition video?

As many of you may (or may not) know, I have been training for the past few months for a wheelchair-bodybuilding competition that will be held this upcoming saturday, Sept. 29th. The only purpose of this thread is to gauge the interest levels of those here at viewing the video of my routine after my show. Should I post it? If there is no, or scant, interest shown I won’t bother. But if people have any interest in it, let me know here and I will post a link for it sometime next week.

Sure, I’d be interested.

As long at some point in the video you get in a verbal arguement in the parking lot with someone regarding their choice of parking space.

I kid, sure I’d like to see it.

Unless my migraine situation drastically improves, I unfortunately think this will have to be my final competition. While all competitions are extremely hard work, this one was different; it was hell on earth. The truly torturous migraines that “broke through” the usually-reliable prophylactic medication program that I am on (and have been on for the past five years) once I began dieting have really sapped any fun and enjoyment that this whole endeavor once held for me. Not only that but they have prevented me from achieving the best shape and conditioning levels that I know I am capable of achieving.

Sure. I’ll check it out.

Dude, you missp…I kid as well.

Seriously dude, if it’s something you’re proud of and want to share then post it in MPSIMS with a clear title saying what it is. It’ll either succeed or sink on its own merits. I’m sure this wasn’t your intention, but these sorts of “Tell me if you’ll like this thing I’m going to post, or I won’t post it” threads always smack of attention-whoring and validation-seeking.

I stopped reading after this.

Well, I kept reading, and I agree. Now, I’d avoid any weight-lifting thread, but I can “not click” like a pro.

Wouldn’t it have been a lot easier to just start a thread and see if people are interested? But, of course, do it. I look forward to reading the first thirty words of it (mousing over the topic).

I say post it. I would certainly be interested in seeing it.

Seriously, that sucks. I hope it does improve for you.

Couldn’t you have avoided this one too?

Seriously, the only reason I did this (this thread) was to “test the wind”, so to speak, to see if anyone was even interested in the subject matter. I’ve started a “Ask the Wheelchair Bodybuilder” thread before and it didn’t garner even a half-page of interest. I’d like to avoid that fate again, if possible. I’d feel better having this thread be a dud.

Thanks. And it will improve; just as soon as I stop dieting and get my diet back up to normal. But that the thing; if dieting is going to be such a drastic, unsolvable trigger for these migraines, I will NOT be able to continue competing. :frowning:

Have you tried Imitrex? I’ve had debilitating migraines since first grade. Tylenol/Advil doesn’t do jack. The ONLY thing that would get rid of them is going home from school, puking three times, falling asleep for 3-5 hours and then being ‘out of it’ for the rest of the day. They were literally the worst pain I could imagine. The throbbing was unbearable. Any motion at all just made it worse. I mean, just moving my arms or legs to shift the blanket and my head would feel like someone was hitting it with a hammer twice as hard as before (now imagine running to the bathroom to throwup…or worse, dry heave because you’ve already thrown-up twice).
A combination of getting older, learning to deal with the pain better and them just not being as bad anymore and, while I still get them about once a week, the debilitating ones like that only happen about once or twice a year (they slowed down in college). I’m on a prophylactic (100mg Topamax) as well, but it only helps a little.

Anyways, Imitrex is a godsend, it will get rid of even the worst migraines. For cost reasons, I just switched to the pills from the injections ($1 per dose rather then $35-$50), but with the injections, the majority of the pain was gone within minutes. I don’t get auras, so by the time I’m taking the meds, the migraine is in full swing, I’m usually an hour or two into it. FTW, the pills (Imitrex and Maxalt are the ones I’ve tried) take about 2.5 hours to work for me, but it’s better then doing nothing. If I ignore a non-debilitating migraine, it’ll take days to go away.

So, yeah, Imitrex, Awesome. It’s generic now, but if you ask your doctor you should probably be able to get some samples of Maxalt. The Maxalt-Melts taste pretty good too.
BTW, I’d be careful about taking them before a competition. At least for me, they make my muscles kinda sore and tired (not a lot, but enough that I notice it, I don’t take my motorcycle out on days I take Imitrex), but then, I’m not a body builder. I have no idea if that would be accentuated or unnoticed in someone who has bigger muscles. You could certainly try taking one without a migraine just to see what kind of side effects you get.

So it is attention-whoring and validation-seeking, shows what I get for trying to give you the benefit of the doubt.

I have an opinion on the OP, but I’d like to make sure people want to hear it before I post it.

I have an opinion about whether I’d like to know your opinion, but I’m hanging back to see which way the wind blows before I offer it up.

Would you be at all interested to hear what I think about that?

And how, pray tell, does this logic work? He took your post as an insult due to your past responses towards him. How does that make him an attention whore? Or should I interpret this as “He wasn’t nice to me, so I have to be mean to him”?

You know, it’s quite clear that you have a very emotional reaction to any of this guy’s threads. Ever think about not opening them?

Ambivalid, obviously you’ve got the great Big T white-knighting for you so you don’t need any help from any of us. I say post 'em. I’m sorry that this may be the end to your competition, but given a choice over training versus eating healthily to reduce migraines, I’d say “see ya” to the competitions. You’ve got a long life ahead if you keep it healthy without going overboard.

My opinion, of course, but you’ve got nothing you need to prove. Chill out, relax, let go of the need for competition and confrontation. You’re a lot more fun when you’re laid back.
