There are a great many overlapping Trump threads. Discussing the same subject in multiple places it is not satisfactory to some of us. So I was thinking of closing the existing threads and replacing them with a more logical structure, for example:
The Trump adminstration and foreign policy
The Trump adminstration and healthcare
The Trump adminstration and immigration
etc.
Any thoughts?
Why is that better? If you don’t like a thread, don’t read it.
Seems like a mystery franchise except the protagonist turns out to be the murderer in every story.

Speaking only for myself, just… no.
Please don’t make us overseers of what are appropriate topics. Posters start threads for their own reasons, and we let them run along on the topics they have chosen.
If we see threads that are obviously duplicative, we combine them. But generally, it’s up to posters to start threads and discuss what they choose. Not what we choose.
I think we should keep it that way.

Yeah, it is asking a bit much for moderators to start trying to arrange Trump threads into some kind of Dewey Decimal system of organization. The man creates outrage like a Michelangelo of mischief; trying to corral that into some scheme of organization is like trying to handcuff an octopus.

This seems like a solution in search of a problem.
I’ve seen stuff like that tried on other forums (on different subjects than Trump), and it just frustrates the moderators and posters alike. The moderators get extra work and posters angry with them, while posters get frustrated with the conversation being artificially split into different niches that they likely don’t even agree with. And there’s lots of wrangling over where to put what, especially since plenty of subjects won’t neatly slot into a given thread and no other.

Agree this is a failed idea from the git-go.
After trump is dead and gone, a board of dedicated historians might well want to create a taxonomy like the OP suggests to discuss the various things that were done, past tense.
Instead, while the outrage is still ongoing in the present tense, it will sprout new branches of wacky daily. Corralling that is harder even than this very well-turned phrase suggests:
More like trying to handcuff a medusa or hydra-headed monster. For each limb you restrain, 10 more emerge spontaneously.
What a horrible way to artificially limit conversation about someone who is actively trying to disrupt and destroy lives and livelihood in so many different ways.
An abundance of thread opportunities
Agree with all the comments saying there’s no need to reorganize the Trump threads, they’re fine as they are.
One thing that would be nice, though, is if anyone contemplating starting yet another Trump thread would stop for a moment and consider whether their contribution could be made in one of the existing threads.

Agree completely with this last sentiment. But …
A lot of the trump threads are getting to be hundreds or thousands of posts long. Such that the OP title and OP post content are very different from what’s going on at the far end of the thread.
Someone who is actively following all those threads has the contextual knowledge to pick a good existing host thread if they’re being diligent about it.
But someone who is not following is in a predicament more like me. If I was wanting to post something trumply to an existing thread, I’d need to read the last 20-50 posts of about 20 or 30 threads to know which trumply thread my trumply post best fits into. The list of the trump-tagged threads just shows me an excerpt of the OP itself, not the bottom where the action is.
ISTM a lot of fresh trumply OP’s are “OMG! I just found out trump did [thing that affects me]. Let’s all wail about it together.” That poster has likely not been a trump thread-fan for the last 9 years.
