Shouldn't thread title clarification edits be accurate? (Wet Dream thread in the Pit)

Here is a Pit thread that The Vorlon posted to complain about the incompetence demonstrated by the bureaucrats who issued the death certificate after the passing of his mother (aside: my condolences for your loss, The Vorlon).

The original title was “Screwing up the Wet Dream.” This references a vulgar remark that in certain cultural contexts was commonly used to disparage someone for their ineptitude, usually after they had demonstrated that ineptitude in a specific undertaking, and often it would be uttered by the person responsible for initiating corrective action, as well as having the undertaking performed properly. The remark generally followed a form such as: “Jones, you’re so useless you could screw up a wet dream.” It works as disparagement because a wet dream (or “nocturnal emission” is something that happens when the dreamer is asleep, and should not require any high degree of competence or skill, and anyone who can screw one up must be exceptionally inept.

The Vorlon’s complaint was about the ineptitude of the person or people responsible for ensuring that the death certificate was issued without egregious errors which in some cases might result in the validity of the document being called into question, with the consequence that the decedent’s survivors, trustees, legatees and heirs would be unable to accomplish undertakings of their own which require the furnishing of a valid death certificate. To someone familiar with the vulgar remark, the level of ineptitude displayed in the case of The Vorlon’s mother’s death certificate would be consistent with a tendency to screw up wet dreams.

Unfortunately, the remark evidently is not as universally understood as the OP expected, and it prompted a fair number of posts from people who wondered what the thread title signified. To his credit, Miller (I presume; he IS the only moderator in the Pit) took the initiative to edit the thread title, such that, even if it didn’t explain the idiom used, DID attempt to alert potential thread viewers to the general subject of the thread. The new thread title, of course is “Screwing up the Wet Dream [Dealing with elderly parents].”

Whoops! That clarifying edit doesn’t describe the thesis of The Vorlon’s OP (which was a rant about the document-issuer’s failure to issue an accurate document – with a side order of dissatisfaction about the prospect of being required to pay out of pocket to have corrections made) at all!

Perhaps a more accurate clarifying addendum would have been [Death Certificate Issued With Egregious Inaccuracies], or something like that.

Just a thought.
