Show off the project you're currently working on!

and apparently I can’t spell…

I’m working on turning a very oddly designed room into a gigantic McFunball pit (still in beginning stages… photos of room/progress soon to come) and I’m astroturfing my 2nd floor porch with a slight angle for a third of it so I can put a golf hole in and putt. That I’ll do when it gets a bit warmer, so within a month I’ll have that finished. Pics for that to come as well.

I doubt you’d find a paper on the re-engineering of an order fulfillment process all that intriguing. No art, films, or embroidery here.

I wish I was artistic and stuff. :frowning:

Thank you so much! I’m very flattered to be in your bookmarks. Of course, if anyone has any submissions of contemporary or near-contemporary descriptions of notable medieval persons, I’d be glad to have them and will give you credit.

I’m waaaay too busy. Along with being a full-time student, I have several projects going on right now. In all honesty, I can’t think of them all, but I’ll list the ones I have been working on today. Also, I have no pictures yet, but that will be explained below.

  • Mastering the ukulele. Been a slow start, but I’m learning more about music theory and specifically fun things to do with the uke all the time.

  • Trying to write down my first screenplay. I want to be a director, to whatever degree, and I’ve had this short film in mind for awhile that I haven’t commited to paper yet. Still needs some revision before I put it down.

  • Renovating my parents kitchen. For some reason, I love doing home improvement things. Right now, I’m working on restaining the cabinets, removing the old countertops, and putting up a tile backdrop below the cabinets and above the countertop. Sometime later, I’ll also be painting and doing the floors, and possibly constructing a new light fixture.

  • Restoring four old outside lights for the parents, again. Picked up these four really cool old cube-globe, nearly industrial outside lights at the local Habitat for Humanity, and I’ve had to take them all apart, rewire, and paint them all nice.

  • Writing this poem down that, like the film, has been floating around in my head for awhile now. It involves kites, this pretty girl I adore, and probably a seven-six-seven-six, 3 stanza, abab type form. I’m leaning towards something Welsh in origin, or an old blues form.

  • Finally, for now, finishing up my digital camera. I’m doing that now-legendary CVS digital camera hack, where you buy the disposable digital camera and create a cord and some programs to upload with. I’ve been too poor to afford a real camera, so this is a great substitute. The cord is done, I just need to get moving on the software.

I recently finished this Illustrator picture of Winona Ryder (no, there was no filter used. I created each of those tiny shapes by hand. Took me about 25 hours.)

I also did my first-ever oil painting which came out pretty well, considering how rushed I was.

Gingy: that tablecloth is amazing. I don’t have the patience for that kind of thing… btw, Dominic started on Concerta last week. He’s been officially diagnosed ADHD.

That oil painting is very nice Opal. Well done.

I wish I had it hosted, but in my spare time I’ve been working on an AJAX song lyrics web page. As you type in the song title or artist, it will auto-suggest, similar to the way web browsers auto suggest as you’re typing in a web site URL. Each time you type a letter, the server does a binary search through about 60,000 titles and artists and returns the appropriate suggestions, which are displayed in a drop down box. Because it’s using AJAX technologies, there’s no need to refresh the whole page every time new suggestions are returned, so it acts more like a desktop application than a web page.

Also, if you know some of the lyrics, but don’t know the title, it will let you search through the actual lyrics. (Or, for example, you want to find you how many songs contain the word “lobster”).

I’m trying to convince my friend to host it for me since he has a static IP address. I hope I don’t have to resort to blackmail.

I’ve got three projects at the moment, all of them are website-based.

The first is a website of mine that has been around for a while, calculating UK income tax - the new budget comes out on Wednesday so I’m preparing to update it - The Salary Calculator.

The second is a website that’s just an excuse for me to take photographs - I’m taking a course in digital photography and this is where I show the best ones off (you can see I’m not very good!) Free Backgrounds.

And the third is a Futurama site I am just getting up and running. I need to write bios for all the characters, and a synopsis of each episode. It’s a great excuse to watch my DVDs again but it does take quite some time to go through, get the quotes, write the synopsis and get the screenshot - Futuramarama.

Ginger - I’m in awe of your tablecloth - it’s beautimous! Glad you have a plastic protector for it. That’s MUCH too nice to ruin.

I’ve been working on a baby quilt for our first granddaughter, due to be born any day now! I’d take a picture but I’ve already given it to my daughter, so I’ll post a pic of my new granddaughter on it when she’s born

It’s a pastel block design with the alphabet letters appliqued on the center points of each block of four, with pretty, baby eyelet lace and a very nice graduated border that took me hours to design and put together. I’ll do something similar in primary colors for my next grandchild due in August.

Oh another project I’m working on is passing seven clubs (here, with my boyfriend, the day I learned how)

A not very good picture of my project is here:

I don’t know how to sorten that link.

Anyway, it’s a “lecture lady”- when you turn the crank, she wags her finger and opens and closes her mouth. You have to add the ‘lecture’ part, yourself, though.

I’m knitting the small bag on this page:
http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring05/PATTmeshbags.html

I’m also made a bowl in my beginner’s ceramics class.

I’m also working on that writing English correctly thing.

(Yes, English is my first and only language.)

Quick update: I was recently contacted by the band stating that they wanted to use my remix on a compilation cd. Unfortunately, my remix was 6:11 and the compilation asked that all tracks be shorter than 5:00 so this week I went back and re-edited it. Now I’m pretty excited that a track I made will be side by side with other bands that I really like.

I’m also working on a Knitty project: Baby Jeans for my nephew. I’m almost done with the knitting part - just need to finish the waistband on the second piece. I need to buy some elastic.

Knitting jeans? OMG THAT IS SO CUTE!

Heh heh…well, here is my “project” of the last 8 months. Warning: The Belly That Ate New York photographed here:

Now be nice and keep all mooing to a minimum.

Thanks for the nice comments, people. It’s really not that difficult to do, and I’m happy to teach any and all who want to learn. But, it’s sorta kinda an in-person thing.
