Show us Something Cool About Your Place

Beautiful!

It’s a pretty cool place, but we are leaving. 11,200 feet in elevation, and 30 feet of snow a year has beaten me.

Our greenhouse (the first three. Not the ones that follow) (it has more plaints in it now)

Spectacular! And explains your user name.

We are at 6,500 feet, and my wife is cold…

deleted, responding to something else

Sorry about your wife. Perhaps counseling?

Sorry. That’s just me. I’m as sarcastic as they come.

It is cold. Very. My wife and I enjoy ‘deck’ time. Sitting on the deck enjoying the view. But you get maybe 2 months a year for that.

yeah. Alpine living got me though. I’m just below tree line for Colorado. Alpine was the name of my first dog up here. Chocolate Lab. That was 30 years ago. I remember her every time I sign in.

40+ years in Phoenix will shift one’s comfort temperature…

Yoww. That’s wonderful. My wife and I want to try to garden as we will be retiring. The house we bought has a raised planting bed. But, I am quite clueless about it all. We do like fresh vegies, and I have a good friend that does this, so, I guess I’ll figure it out.

That is one heck of a green house though. You could put a bed in there for guests!

Well, not much privacy in a glass house. But no neighbors, so maybe.

Oh my. 40+ years. I suppose it’s the same for the mountains. Gonna be different down at 5000 feet. One thing that is cool (snerk) is that the previous owners installed ‘misters’ for people on the back porch. Ya see those in bars on the front range a lot.

Wow, absolutely beautiful everyone. Those greenhouse pictures are so stunning. The Tombstone story is awesome sauce. That’s a party I’d love to attend.

I’m amazed by the carving. I could never imagine creating that. I’m so envious of the vision that artist has. Just amazing.

I can’t mention them all, but I love them all. Well done everyone.

So, our new flooring on the main (kitchen, dining, living area + one closet and 1/2 bath) is 90% done. Done enough that I could plug my modem and router back in at least, so while I’m still on my (gaming) laptop, at least I’m not stumbling around on cell-phone based internet.

Yes, I know the old couch is hideous, but after the new floor we need a new electrical system, a new outside A/C unit, and a fix on some of the outside siding that’s come loose. Talk to us in a year or two.

And yes, the cats are not fully sure the floor can be trusted as you can see in the back.

This has been a good year for bald eagles in the neighborhood. Fortunately, they don’t land in our yard.

My corner of paradise.

Our house in wet tropics Cairns has no internal heat and we effectively live in the out of doors with 60% of the living space screened with air flowing from all directions in an old Queenslander.

The kitchen opens up to the main deck/living area. Only bedrooms have a/c and serve for cyclone shelter on the rare time one swipes us.
:sparkling_heart:

Wow, everyone, just wow.

We have mixed emotions about leaving the mountains. The lack of 02 and the snow have won. Can’t fight mother nature. Well, you can, but the fight never ends.

That is one ugly couch @ParallelLines

Beautiful bird @susan . Wasn’t it Ben Franklin that wanted the Turkey to be the US bird/symbol. Oddly, foretelling. No eagles up here. Hawks, but not many of them either.

Cool computer set up @MacDoc. Love it. Sad that they have to cage you in like that

Thanks
It would be far too hot with glass ( we are in the wet tropics ) and crimsafe which is a better more translucent screen material is waaaaaaaay more expensive.
Your mind filters.
If you take a camera and put the lens against a screen door perhaps you will see the screen disappears in the resulting photo.

There are too many flying, crawling, slithering creatures about to stay entirely unscreened

I’m happy and it’s all paid for.

WOW. No beating that view.

Yeah… to the right of Mt Bross is Mt Lincoln. And then Mt Democrate. Also all fourteeners. It is a stunning view. But I have to leave  Not getting any younger.

It’s always cool to see clouds below you.

But I love our new place, we have a great view of Longs peak, though it’s 30 miles away, not across the valley.

19 years ago I posted this:

The links are long dead (Photobucket…) so here is one of the original photos:

There was also another small mulberry tree growing behind the firewood, just to the left of the photo.

The firewood is long gone and life has moved on.

Here is what that second mulberry tree looks like today:

Note the fence embedded in the tree trunk!
