Eddie was the fast-talking guy in the film, when just about no one else can really be depicted as such. We all like Slow-Talking Jones, but not everyone can be slow-talking in a movie.
Shrek 1 was ROFL, Shrek 2 was LOL. I guess mostly because #1 was much more innovative and original when it came out.
I still think it was a great movie, well worth seeing in the movie theater, althought I regret going for the Imax screen - the image was fuzzy. I’ll definitely rent it on DVD too to see what was missing.
Puss in boots was genius!
Would you mind spoiling it for someone who loved the movie, but didn’t think to hang around for all the credits?
I thought it was a really good movie, and I’ll definitely get the DVD when it comes out.
I would tell ya, but I don’t know how to make the spoiler box.
There IS a hint at the beginning(pretty obvious to me) when Donkey mentions his dragon wife.
I only knew to stay the credits cause of a local critics mention of it in the paper.
Always stay for ALL the credits for EVERY movie.
You never know what you might miss.
Dragon returns with a litter of donkey/dragon hybrids.
Funny movie. I’ll never look at Pinocchio the same.
Heck, I for one will never look at Larry King again.
The riffs on LOTR at the beginning just about killed me. And when Puss in Boots
said “I hate Mondays” riffing on Garfield was brilliant. Especially with the Garfield movie coming out shortly
I thought John Cleese was an excellent choice for the King. He had just the right level of anxiety in his voice, especially after you know his entire story.
great movie. my family loved it. but why was i the only one to laugh at the “Hay buddy, why the long face?” line?
The ‘Cops’ parody was pretty funny, down to pepper being applied to suspects eyes (with a pepper mill no less!) but the kicker was when one knight pulls out a tiny bag from Puss n Boots’s belt, looks at it and says “Catnip.” then Puss replies, “ahhh thats not mine!” ROFL
I felt like the jokes were wonderfully funny, as you would expect with some of the top notch comedians in the movie, but the story was flat. It was an excuse for the jokes, there was no “flow” like the first movie. Things just sort of happened in 2.
And dang, I didn’t know about the ending credits. I really should have. Both Dreamworks and Pixar love doing “outtakes” and extras at the end of the credits…
I really liked the Puss n’ Boots character and some of the gags with him… I won’t say much more than that since by itself it’s not really a spoiler, but he killed me. In a movie with Mike Myers, Jennifer Saunders, Eddie Murphy, and John Cleese who would guess the funniest character is Antonio Banderas?
okay, I saw this yesterday … and i have 2 questions 'cos a couple of things aren’t ringing a bell AT ALL …
A) what was Pinocchio’s fetish?
B) what was the whole Mongo thing about?
there were some funny moments for sure, but I enjoyed the first one more - I guess like others have pointed out, mainly because the first one had a lot of surprises, and this one mainly recycled …
Thanks,
S.
That was my reaction, too. The hairball cough was also a perfect mimic of a cat.
I just saw it and enjoyed it, and even with a theater half full of kids they were not completely annoying, except for the one behind me kicking my chair but that always happens. Some day though … er, anyway, I loved it.
Aceospades- I laughed at the “why the long face?” joke … but I think I was the only one in the theater that did.
Pinocchio wore womans thong underwear.
I anticipated this development, so I’ve been wondering…
What do you call donkey/dragon hybrids? Half-assed dragons?
Geez. I hope the movie didn’t already make this joke.
Mongo hit as two different parodies:
1- the Sta-Puft marshmellow man from Ghost Busters
2- Alex Karas’ character from Blazing Saddles
I liked the movie. Esp Puss babbling in Spanish.
btw, the Faerie God Mother was absolutely fabulous, don’t you think?
No, toss me in there, too. But Lady Chance looked at me like I was a fool.
I seem to recall that ‘Rocky the Rhode Island Red’ told that joke in ‘Chicken Run’ for that matter.
the only problem was that i figured out the king’s “secret” from the moment they made the “down at the pond” reference, so it was no surprise to me
think about it, we’re in a medeival “fairy tale” environment, what else could it have been…
loved all the subtle inside jokes, correct me if i’m wrong, but there even was a Lewis Black reference there during the Mongo rampage…
