I should point out for those who didn’t see the latest, Rico’s character has undergone a… bit of a change. Shiny facepaint, an unnerving bit of heterosexuality in addition to the now extremely direct homosexuality. It very much reminds me of WCW Goldust.
But we’ve only seen him once, so who knows. I may be overanalyzing.
Very good point. That Maven kid has a real future - if they ever decide to give him a push that is.
I’m still waiting for them to give Booker T the push he deserves. However with the current storyline Booker is in, (always almost winning only to get screwed in a different way each time) I think its only a matter of time (and likely PPV) before he finally wins the IC Title. Whats sad though, is that Booker deserves to have held the World Title. Think theres any truth to the rumor that they don’t want to make Booker Champ because he won’t be able to do the “five time five time five time five time five time” if he wins number six?
Lots of the wrestlers have great potential for a career but most of them have one strike against them. Vince McMahon likes big men and he believes that big men help sell for a wrestling promotion.
The little guys are meant to be jobbers, featured in squash match after squash match to make the big, lumbering lummoxes come across as fearsome and strong even though they have a limited moveset that ends up being stale. The cruiserweights tend to be all over the ring and work their hearts out to give a good match that’s made up of something more than rest holds. That’s why guys like Angle, Brock, Benoit and others are so good because they wrestle and make it look good. Other big guys like Undertaker, Big Show and Albert are boring because they’re stiff, get easily tired out.
And a lot of big men have one strike against them with 'net fans… that they’re big and smarks are prejudiced against them. I am not going to argue that people like Rosie, Jamal, and the Big Show, to a certain extent, are crappy wrestlers, because they are, but people like Kane, Test, and a few others aren’t bad wrestlers but get shit on because they’re over 6’6". If they were 6’2", they wouldn’t get it as bad.
Then there’re big men that’re actually above average, like Albert, that’re constantly trashed only because they’re tall.
“So you see, your honor, we are hopelessly deadloc…dead…dead! DEAD! SHOT HER IN THE HEAD! G-G-GUILTY! GUILTY! FRY HIM!”
The TE kids seem to be doing better than they were, though Maven has yet to find a gimmick. Linda (now Sheniqua) has her Dominatrix angle, and Nidia (along with Jamie Noble) has her “trailer trash suddenly rich” angle. Jamie did make me laugh when he told Nidia, “We’re going to Applebee’s, baby!”
But what of Chris Nowinski? He had a good thing going, but now he’s in limbo.
Oooohh…:smack: In my own defense, I never saw that. Or at least, I don’t remember it. I started watching WWE (then WWF) a few months before DX broke up for the first time. And then, they were the reason I watched.
And can I help it if I’m too sweet and innocent to get the dirty connotation? Stop laughing!
