I had this figured out for a while, now this morning CNN links are automatically playing videos. …I don’t want them to.
I’m on Chrome, I’ve got AdBlock
Ive gone to settings–> advanced settings –>content settings –> plugins –> and selectd 'let me choose when to run plugins. yet the videos still run automaticall

I use the Disable HTML5 Autoplay plugin for Chrome. It works pretty well.

Is there a Firefox equivalent? uBlock had CNN under control until today…
With uBlock Origin and Adblock Plus in Firefox neither page linked by OP autoplays a video.
I had this problem with a sports news site (maybe ESPN), I found that I can subscribe to the site, and as a subscription member, I can to the options page and turn it off. CBS Sports lhas no such provision.
The problem just started for me on CNN site yesterday. My solution is to avoid CNN. Working so far.
