Let’s see if this works.
Three possible problems: First, do you have a sig in your profile? If not, then click on the “profile” button in the upper-right of the screen, and add something. Secondly, did you check the “Show Signature” box down by the “submit” button? Thirdly, did you preview? If you preview, then the “show sig” box becomes unchecked, and you need to re-check it.
Or, a fourth possibility, there’s no problem at all. This is actually the solution to a problem. (Which I happen to know to be the correct scenario. Hee hee.) She wants a blank sig. She felt her sig was inappropiate for a thread she’d posted earlier today and appended her sig to; I told her how to temporarily remove it from all past posts by creating a blank one.
Or maybe, this is just scenario 1A.
I guess she can use a pseud-sig until the inappropiate thread drops out of sight.
If she makes another mistake that way, it can be edited, right? Like this-
“There are only two things that are infinite: The Universe, and human **** [expetive deleted at request of poster by J.Q.Moderator]-- and I’m not sure about the Universe.”
–A. Einstein
I’m not sure what point you are trying to make Sue Jo, but no. Sigs are difficult to edit and we prefer not to, of course. Editing sigs is a bit more work than just editing a post. Also, I don’t think you have completely understood my post above. It’s not her thread that was inappropriate. Nor was her sig inappropriate by board standards. She merely felt it was unseemly when attached to a single specific post she’d made.
You also seem to be implying, at least this is the impression I get, that Rachelle has committed a faux pas or violated a rule or some sort. I assure you this isn’t the case. As I said above, her sig was not inappropriate by board standards. She merely checked the “show signature” box inadvertently. It was nothing that we’d asked her to remove.
One more point. I see in your current sig, an allusion that a moderator has edited it. I realize we do not have a mod named " J.Q.Moderator," and you are just posting an example. However, I’d like to make this comment on it post and sigs of that nature. We (the administration of the SDMB) take a very dim view of misinformation of this sort. Please do not attempt to mislead the members here regarding moderator/administrator actions.
All that said, welcome to the boards and have fun.
