Whew! Wife and I made it through the **21 SEASONS **on Amazon Prime.Silent Witness - Wikipedia
There are a couple of additional seasons and it’s ongoing on BBC. It’s all about pathologists and murders. None of the glitz like Bones or other US shows. Figuring a minimum of 5 deaths per pair of episodes (stories run across 2 episodes); we watched between 500 and 600 deaths and the associated dismemberments. Bleak. Some shows, nobody gets out unscathed. Stories are good with twists and turns. Very few heros. Lots of current and past social problems explored (immigration, human trafficking, drugs, illnesses, elder abuse, etc…). Hope I mentioned bleak. We’d watch a pair of shows each night - like a train wreck - hard to look away. And there were some train wrecks. Not for the squeamish. Shootings, car/truck crashes, falls from buildings, torture aftermath, burned bodies, etc…
Usual tropes appear; pathologists get way our of their lane, don’t call police/backup, venture into dark spaces, damsel in distress, get shot/punched/knived/blown up.
Science comes a little more forward around season 10. There’s more realistic exploration of the bodies for clues/damage/illness along with the attendant blood and guts. Bodies are naked so be forewarned. Not for kiddies.
An average of around 10 episodes per season; the episodes come in pairs (parts 1 & 2) and run around 54/55 minutes per episode. So roughly 5 full length movies per season time 21 seasons is 100 movies worth.
(show your work - 10 episodes X 55 min. = 550 min. per season. 550 min. X 21 seasons = 11,550 minutes = 192.5 hours)
