Silly things that brightened your day

For me, it was coming into work this morning, not wanting to be there at all after my long weekend…

and finding some unknown co-worker had bought me three WWF spiral notebooks to use. (We take a lot of notes during calls and scratch paper is hard to find) Just three notebooks and a note that said “Saw these at Target, thought you’d like them” with no signature.

Call me lame, but I was touched.
So, what made your day a little better?

Butter in my rum.

Butter on my toast.

Butter on my toes.

Butter on my butt.

Coming home and finding out my kids have cleaned something all on their own just to surprise me.

An email (or voice mail) saying, “Haven’t seen you in awhile and want you to know you were missed.”

For me, any day can be improved when I put on my red socks. There’s something about red socks that makes me beam

Also, getting an email from my supposed long-lost e-pal in the US - we’ve had trouble getting in touch with each other for about 18 months, but both of us finally have working email addresses!

On any particular day, seeing a squirrel will do it for me.

Today in particular? Finding my name in a crush thread. Also, when I was at the airport I saw not one but TWO happy reunions between grandkids and grandparents. We’re talking scenes like the kids screeching “Papa! Papa!” and racing towards the grandpa who is crouched down with outreached arms. It was so, so sweet it brought tears to my eyes. Both times it happened.

I should have mentioned…

Especially in the early days following the terrorist attacks, coming to these boards and seeing Dopers announcing the births of their babies made me feel joy and hope for the future. Alexander and Emily and Rick Jr (I hope I haven’t missed any!) came along and brought incredible joy to their families… but news of their arrivals also put a smile on my face, despite the fact that they’re thousands of miles from me and I’ll probably never meet them. I’m so grateful to the respective parents for sharing the happy news with us.

I’m still on a high getting a positive result in the lab on friday, but lately its been walking home and hearing the leaves crunch under my feet.

the new shag carpet that the Big Mom put down today…

jumps off chair

rub, rub, rub

jumps back on chair
