Simcity 5 Doper region organizing thread

I’ve seen your metal truck travel from your city to the arcology, so you have indeed contributed to its construction. We’ve got more than half the metal required.

As long as you’ve signed up at the arcology, you don’t have to set your trade depot to export metal unless, you know, you actually want to export it. In fact, I had originally set my trade depot to import metal. So an import truck would come in, deposit metal at the trade depot, then another truck would pick it up and take it to the arcology.

If your trade depot is set to export, you’d have the export trucks and arcology trucks competing over the metal, which I’d argue slows the rate of arcology delivery. C’mon, you know you want to see it rise over the landscape. You can make a lot more money from alloy anyway.

Traffic fixes are live: Electronic Arts Forums - Official EA Site

Woot! That should make a huge difference, hopefully. Too bad my most recent city is completely designed around the broken traffic patterns…

Looks like EA is also holding a big “player appreciation sale” on Origin. Looks like some pretty good deals.

The arcology is full up on metal! Alloys are nearly done, and then we’ll have to start working on TVs.

edit: Maaaybe? Now it’s saying that it’s not done.

Based on early reports, it looks like the traffic fix isn’t working as expected:

On the other hand, maybe the traffic fix does work:

Based on my superficial observations in both Slugsworth and New Ceciltopia, it does seem to be working, though that could just be wishful thinking. Regardless, my traffic is indeed moving.

I agree, my traffic in both Creosote (Slugworth) and Rat Portage (New Ceciltopia) seem to be better. Creosote still has several lanes of traffic backed up on the highway to the horizon, but the traffic within the city is moving a lot better – I think the highway will just need a lot more time to clear.

Rat Portage is doing well, although I don’t know why I have 30 busses from Rousseau Flats driving around town clogging up my streets :). I’m trying to get my Metals HQ to level 2 but even with two mines running at full capacity I’m only getting about 60% of the daily revenue I need for the next level. I might have to plant an ore mine in the middle of a residential neighborhood to hit the target…

Pfft. Tourists …

Sapleton Woods in New Ceciltopia now has over 300,000 people happily living there. I’m not sure why they’re happy, but they are. And, purely hypothetically, does anyone how to clean up radiation?

Do not send out your recycling trucks to collect recyclables from other cities. If you do, your recycling center will eventually become clogged with foreign material that cannot be processed. The RC will be full of recyclables but the production lines will be idle and nothing will be produced. The only way to get rid of the inert material is to bulldoze the center, rebuild it, and not send your trucks out to neighboring cities again.

There appears to be another round of server upgrades going on. North America East 2 is once again open to new players. Anyone who wants to join New Ceciltopia should log in to the server so that you’ll appear in the in-game friends list.

Aha! That must explain the recycling center problem I was having in Riverside. My center filled up completely and trucks were driving around full not being able to drop off their material at the center.

I just plopped an RC in Rat Portage last night before logging out, so your advice is timely.

After some initial issues with my network connection and a “RollBack” prompt, I have claimed and (I hope) stabilized Monet Plateau in New Ceciltopia! So far, it houses 5300 residents and, despite some early traffic congestion, has been doing well.

I’ve started up an Oil Well and trade depot to make some money and will eventually get around to finding an alternative for when the Oil runs dry…

Anybody have any success with Casinos yet? I heard somewhere that they have some bugs, so I’m thinking I’ll get into electronics…

Casinos are still bugged. You can make money with the small gambling halls, but the big ones are losers unless you work really, really hard, e.g., manually scheduling an event at your Expo Center every few days.

I was going to do Electronics in Rat Portage, but I decided to go Mining instead. I was moderately successful with Electronics in Riverside before the city bugged out on me.

There aren’t too many viable choices right now - with casinos bugged, it’s hard to be a successful gambling city, and it’s hard to specialize in Trade with the global market not working (neither is impossible, just really hard). If you’re out of oil/ore/coal there

What’s the path to get to TVs? Do I need a University or is a community college enough education for my purposes?

oops, I meant to delete my post because I decided I wasn’t saying anything important.

With the opening up of the NA East 2 server, three new mayors were able to join the region. Welcome to sandra_nz, RMcnally, and iDavidW95. As of 9:30 PM EDT, New Ceciltopia has a population of 1,057,928.

The arcology in Cluster A is slowly accumulating materiel. Alloy is complete and metal is more than haflway there, but no one in the cluster is able to make TVs yet (and importing them is ungodly expensive). An electronics HQ has just been built in Terminus Isle, which is churning out processors at more than 8,000 a day. The next upgrade requires a daily profit of 1.5 million simoleons; to do that is going to take some dedication.

Ok cluster B, what should we work on? I have alloy and metal being produced and I have some high tech industry so I’m getting plastic from the recycling. I also have 1.3 mil in the bank.
What I need is power. I’ll gift someone a hundred grand if they’ll expand their power supply.
