Simple (stupid?) tool question: reaming pliers to clean the inside of a tube

I’m using a lot of EMT conduit to wire our basement. I’ve been using a file to clean up the edges after cutting, but I recently got a pair of reaming pliers figuring it would be a tiny bit quicker. Plus, new tool.

These work great on the outside edge, but damned if I can’t figure out how to use them to clean up the inside. Others have a tapered bit on the handle that jams into the pipe end, but the Irwin’s handle has a soft grip. The outsides of the head are smooth, unlike the rounded bit at the jaws, so I don’t see that being what I’m supposed to do. Or is EMT soft enough and the edges hard enough to hold their angle and do the job?

Please note: Given my lack of ability to figure this out, I have already called into question the wisdom of doing my own electrical work.

Thanks~

Looks like the square profile on the head of the pliers is supposed to do the reaming. Just jam the head into the pipe and twist…

yeah the square head of the pliers inserted and twisted does the reaming.

tubing cutters for EMT have reamers on them as well. those cut better than a saw.
