I liked it. Much better than other certain recent episodes. I liked how they had a cameo from Snake’s girlfriend (I barely noticed it was the same girl from last week.)
The whole thing with Homer yellong at Grandpa, then Marge mentioning that he IS his father
yeah, I found myself laughing quite a few times. The whole conversation with Grandpa coming home late, and Lisa “earning their trust” was good on so many levels.
And I loved the Greased Lightening spoof between the seniors and the senors.
Bronson, MO again. Oh, and “It’s Grandpa!” “Munster?” “No, Simpson.”
And the gratuitious use of the word hoochie was gratifying as well.
I know I can’t be the only one who thought it was yet another in a series of horribly disappointing unfunny episodes. There have been 2 or 3 this season that are decent, but I’m sure if I weren’t a die-hard fan I would have completely given up watching by now.
I liked it. Bronson was a good bit. It’s good to know they can still come up with plots that can last for 23:05. Even though they kinda did this plot before, Abe and Burns battling over Marge’s grandmother was it?
Oh, and that opening bit? Grandpa dead. Classic. That was a bit that would fit well in any of the shows in those great seasons so long ago.
Put it into perspective. It’s been years since I’ve seen a Simpson’s episode. I would kill for an old show or a new show or a new rehashed old show. China’s come a long way, but they don’t show the Simpson’s.
I thought it was just another mediocre episode. As has been the trend this season, the first little intro episode (XFL, Grampa dying) was better than the rest of the show. And that little song and dance number was pretty lame, I thought. So far this season the best episode was the one with the cowboy, I think.
Lisa: I’m Annie Oakley!
Nelson: I’m Kevin Costner in one of his western roles!
Ralph: I’m a gulch!
Well although I can’t remember at what, I threw my head back and laughed really really hard a couple of times. The part where Homer said “The ‘X’ is for EXTREME!” was pretty funny, and others have already mentioned a couple other lines. I also thought it was pretty funny when Grandpa threw his teenage temper tantrum and ran up to his room and started blasting Glenn Miller. ROFL! I pretty much love any episode that centers around Grandpa.
The “I hate this house!” followed by the run up the stairs, slamming the bedroom door and playing “In the Mood” cracked me up, especially when Homer yelled “You call that music?”
