I thought this was a good episode, many of the jokes worked for me. It was also the bloodiest episode i have seen in a long time, edging out many of the Halloween episodes with the massive death. Several characters died multiple times. At least Ralph was in it (and he died too, the first i remember him REALLY dying, and not faking his death). But all in all i think the Simpsons are coming out of their rut. What do you think? Anyone agree? Disagree? Think Vampires that suck out the middle of bananas would be a cool thing?
The last 4 or so episode all have been pretty strong. Another tread had mentioned they thought the reason was that Mike scully (producer type?) was gone. All I know is the Simpson’s I love seems to be back.
Last night was particularly good (and bloody)- very Halloween episode-ish.
The Simpson’s take on Hamlet was a riot.

“From now on whenever anyone gets wood, they’ll think of Trojans!”
Fell out of my chair laughing, I did.
Yeah, it was a pretty stabby episode!
I loved the bit where they had god testify in Joan of Arc’s trial.
(paraphrased)
“Wait a minute! You told me to lead the English to victory!”
“Oh, er…I never thought you two would be in the same room…”
loved it… this one was the funniest one in a while!
great scene where homer eats the pigs…
and i also loved the hamlet one where ralph kills himself with the practice stab… i was on the floor!!!
I was giggling and laughing but upon seeing Patty and Selma I just lost it and laughed so hard for the rest of the bit I missed some of it.
“Victory! We’re French, do we even have a word for that?”
Good Episode…

An your only witness is GoD … Hans Moleman walks in ala George Burns … LAUGH MY ASS OFF
Very funny episode, I loved the Hamlet segment. LMAO.
(paraphrase)
“Someone call out a person”
“Usurper of the throne”
“I think I heard ‘usurper of the throne’”
LOL, not to mention “RosenCarl and GuildenLenny.” God I love The Simpsons!
My favorite moment: “Discus” Stu makes his move…on Bart. Gotta love that ancient Greek pedophilia humor.
The Trojans line will be an all-time classic. I also liked the suitor-kebob, lots of Wiggum, and Barney as a god questioning whether Zeus the party animal had sold out and gone soft.
I second that. Ha!
Plus, Barney sounded like drunk Barney-and he was swishing a glass of wine around.
Notice though, after all those years, Odyssius’s family didn’t age?
A truly great line. I didn’t dare laugh, since my 17 year old daughter (proud of her innocence) was in the room, but I loved it.
It was the best episode in awhile.
You guys are killing me. I haven’t been able to see even an old Simpson’s episode in years.
Was I the only one who laughed at Homer reading The Oddysey?
This episode was great. When I saw the direction they were heading at the begining I thought “oh no, not another tall tale episode.” But it was really funny.
I’ve heard some risque’ comments from The Simpsons before, but that Trojan one takes the cake. It beats Skinner’s “ball sack,” line hands down. Crude, but funny.
This show earns an A.
After last season i almost stopped watching but this season the episodes seem to get better and better.
Strong episode with some hilarious lines.
“The french were fighting the english in the hundred year war
which was then called operation speedy resolution”
“God says we should just be friends”
“Nobody outcrazies ophelia”
Yep, one of the best Simpsons in a long time. I almost missed it too becuse I let the cable go so I had to get an antenna. I had to watch it again last night it was so good.
Also seen last night, the Simpsons goto NYC. I guess they are showing this one.
Is that about my minivan?
The Simpsons have been getting better, there is no doubt in my mind.
The only thing I didn’t like about that episode was at the very end where they all danced (I felt the writers could have wraped it up better), other then that It was great.
I can’t believe that nobody’s mentioned the River Styx gag yet. It’s my new all-time favorite scene. Finally, something’s beat out the “gremlin on the side of the bus” bit.
I only regret that I probably won’t be able to use “Homer’s Odyssey” in class. Stupid state objectives…
