Simpsons Halloween Special

Curses! The one example I’m able to think of on the spot and it turns out it really IS just a reference I didn’t get, heh…and of course now I can’t think of anymore off the top of my head. I remember thinking the episode where Ned’s wife dies was like…unresolved, I guess, at the end. I haven’t seen the episodes recently enough to come up with any better examples now, so just ignore this, heh…

Who cares if the Simpsons sucks now??? FAMILY GUY returns tomorrow night!! Without a doubt the smartest, funniest show on TV today!

Now I get it, you guys are the ones responsible for the Comic Store Guy’s catch-phrase. I shoulda guessed.

I loved Bart drowing in his cereal while the leprechan danced on his head. The psychotic Pierce Brosnan AI peeping at Marge in the bath was beautiful. So nyah.

And I’m the one that has only one brain.

I read Life in Hell much too scarce and much too long ago to remember.

Sheesh, Phil, you are a crabby bastiche.

Well, I’m with ya there, not that it means much of anything (and certainly nothing to whine about).

Well, I’ll have to disagree vigorusly – sheesh, you fit right in with the nebbishes on alt.fan.simpsons.

That was pretty funny, actually. But I bet you just enjoyed the blasphemy, ya Satanist, you!

I’d bet she did, but then I don’t think I care enough.

I’ll agree that that was far overdone – but hey, let’s see the script you wrote so we can all critique it. I’m sure there’d be no plodding bass – er, plot lines.

Note : Quoting disaster repaired. Good to see you back, Bob! Careful of the invective, though.- E.

Well, I certainly managed to muck up the quoting on that last reply.

But y’all knew what I meant …

It’s a kind of concrete poetry. I like the turd at the end. Brilliant.

Gah, Bob, don’t lump me in with the a.t.s. wieners! (Good to see you back, BTW.) Most of them think the show stopped being funny back in 1992 or so, or at least around the time of the Frank Grimes episode–which happens to be one of my favorites!

I just really haven’t gotten as many laughs out of the last two seasons’ worth of the show as I have all the seasons before it. Hell, maybe I am jaded. And you, sir, are worse than Hitler!

BTW, “Let’s see the script/song/movie/whatever” you wrote is a non-starter as an argument, I’m afraid. I notice people only break it out when others disagree with something they like. If we must all be creative artists or working in Hollywood before we can criticize Hollywood’s output, this forum is going to die quickly.

Oh, it’s all good, Phil, and it’s good to see you, too – but as you are a beloved yet CPP, I figgered I’d bust yer chops just for old times’ sake.

And you’re right, the “where’s your script” line was a cheap shot. I agree that the show has declined a bit, but I still think it’s damned funny – I dunno, kinda like how “Some Girls” was no “Sticky Fingers,” but I still like it a lot. And I agree that the Frank Grimes episode was an outstanding one. And I don’t care about starting sentences with “and” here.

I just didn’t get it. Was it a use-a-celeb-at-random, or was there some deep meaning that went right past me?

Most inane spelling error <b>ever</b>.

To those who feel that the show isn’t good anymore… DON’T WATCH IT. Go watch Touched In The Head By An Angel or some other drivel like program. If you don’t like something, why support it by watching? Or is it just an opportunity to bitch and be pretentious as you’ve been with the show since it was on Tracey Ullman and thus are the arbiters of what the show SHOULD be and how pathetic everyone else is who doesn’t agree with you?
