Simpsons Tune

Another Simpsons thread?? i know, I know, I’m sorry, but this is bugging me. There is this tune that has been used at least twice on the show and maybe more often. Once was

“I am evil Homer… I am evil Homer…”

and the other

“You don’t win friends with salad…You don’t win Friends with salad…”

What is the name of the underlying tune here?? Help me!

I thought about that too a while back. It’s an old tune even used in Looney Tunes and Three Stooges shorts (when they were mixing up a concoction [youth serum?] in a tall rubber boot.) It’s possible that the origin lies as far back as the Shave and a Haircut bit, meaning I’m not sure if it was ever connected to anohter song or if maybe it was just those few notes.

Max, I’m not sure if you’re thinking of the right one (but I could just as easily be thinking of the wrong one.) I think the OP is referring to the beat that sounds like a traditional island song. It’s like 6 drum beats, the last one being the hardest. I have no idea if it even has a name, it could just be ‘traditional’ meaning it’s so old that no one remembers who wrote it.

That’s the line-song… where you all hop in a line and stick out your butt on the last note… it’s also from the Hungry Hungry Hippos commercial.

:hums:
Hungry Hungry Hip-Ohs!

It’s a basic conga line riff.

Conga! That’s the word I was looking for!

I bow to Shoshana

Cha-cha cha-cha cha HEY!, Cha-cha cha-cha cha HEY!

Remember the episode where Mr. Burns wanted to be loved by the public?

“We love Monty Burns more! Conga, conga CONGA! Conga like you mean it! Please don’t make me shock you!”

Also, in the episode where all the kids got snowed into Springfield elementary, the teachers were at “an emergency caucus.”

Caucus Caucus Caucus! Caucus Caucus Caucus!

That’s exactly what I was thinking of, and , yes, it was a conga line beat! I remember now when the boot started smoking and spouting off the beat, the Stooges got in a line, hands on the hips of the stooge in front of them, and started doing a conga across the floor
