Herschel Clay. I know I’m not the only PS238 reader here.
I stopped reading comics not long after Spiderman, Iron Man, the F4 came out. (Curse you parents.) But my favorite character of all is Herbie.
“You want I should bop you with this here lollipop?”
Herbie could take on and beat all the Avengers without breaking a sweat. In fact Herbie never broke a sweat.
For a minute there I thought you meant the Coyote. ![]()
Kamandi, The Last Boy On Earth
that’s gotta be in the top 10.
Shitagi Nashi. Or Tall Slut, No Panties with sidekick Strong Bowling Girl Talks A Lot.
I find the “reverse-anime” eyes of Strong Bowling Girl to be an interesting take on Dreama Walker, who seems to have real-life anime eyes.
It also has better artwork than June Colburne’s Adventures of Sissy and Trina.
Oh man! I was trying to think of that one. Bringing back some memories.
Speaking of which, there was a superhero who I remember getting into for a brief period but I can’t remember very much about him - he might even have been a supervillain. I’m not even sure if he was Marvel or DC. As far as I can remember, he was composed of four different elements, each quarter of his body (one arm and upper chest, one leg and lower abdomen, that sort of thing). And he could manipulate the elements, like he could make his arm a big iron hammer and his foot shoot flame or something like that.
Ringing any bells for anyone?
That’d be metamorpho, probably.
Toss up between The Phantom Stranger and Man-Thing.
Maggie Chascarrillo.
Or, possibly, Ultra the Multi-Alien.
Yep, could be.
My favorite for a long time wasAdam Warlock:
Not Wolverine.
I don’t have a single favorite, but I’ve always had an affinity for funny characters like Jubilee (see Generation X) and Spider-Man. Growing up, my favorite was Cyclops because he wore glasses like me and had a similar personality. Now I find him a little too intense and angsty for my taste, but I still like him.
All seem very familiar. I’m thinking it was probably Metamorpho, but I remember him drawn a bit more crudely – which could be the case … I was in my prime comic reading range in the mid-70’s.
Magneto.
Green Arrow. For reasons that I cannot quite enunciate.
And I will admit to having, when rather a lot younger, something of a crush on Kitty Pryde / Shadowcat.
Superman, mainly because my mom dated his co-creator, Jerry Siegel, in high school. He could have been my dad, kinda making Clark Kent my brother.
Concrete
Cutter
Zot
Nexus
With my user name I shouldn’t forget Dream Girl
I have always had an affinity for Professor X.
And, I have always had a crush on Jean Grey.
It only made the transition from TV show to comic book recently, but Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my favorite comic book character ever. He has no super powers at all, but he’s still the most resilient one there. Nobody has suffered as much as him, and he’s always overlooked when it’s crunch time, but he pulls through and often ends up being a critical part of the group’s success. Recently he hasn’t had nearly as much page-time as he deserves.
Wha’ th’… no one’s mentioned Mike Murdock yet?
