Modern Family, Louie, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and How I Met Your Mother are funny shows I’ve seen and liked, but I don’t make a point to watch regularly. Big Bang Theory is meh.
What channel/station/network/whatever is *Louie *on?
The Simpsons are the longest running sitcom in USA, 500th show coming up. Woo Hoo.
Big Bang Theory is good enough to watch when i can.
I watch a ton of sitcoms and pretty much can suffer through even the worst of them. However, the 2 I want to stress that people watch are:
Happy Endings
and
Archer
The other good ones like parks/rec, etc. speak for themselves but these two seem to have a quieter following. Quiet followings allow shows like Better Off Ted to get cancelled…
FX. First season’s also available (or at least it was) on Netflix Watch Instantly.
I record the comedies that I love so that I can watch them when I’m in the mood.
Raising Hope
TBBT
Suburgatory
HIMYM
are all recorded weekly.
I like 30 Rock and Community as well as Park and Recreation.
Party Down is pretty funny too although I keep forgetting to watch.
Love:
Community. Occasionally brilliant, always just a bit smarter than everything else on TV.
30 Rock
Modern Family
New Girl. Zooey is my celebrity crush.
Like:
Suburgatory. Didn’t want to like it, but it sucked me in.
Raising Hope. Occasionally meh…usually pretty funny. The opening sequence of the pilot, where Jimmy and Hope watch Hope’s mother go to the chair (and Hope is wearing a tiny little prison jump suit) made me go
When I’m at my girlfriend’s, she records (and I watch)
The Middle
Up All Night.
Both are ok, but I don’t go out of my way to watch them.
Cool. I’ll have to check it out. I’ve never seen anything Louis CK has done that hasn’t entertained me.
I’ve watched Happy Endings enough times that now I turn off the TV after Modern Family.
I don’t watch any sitcoms. The laugh tracks are annoying as hell. And they’re all pretty much the same anyway. A group of people standing around making sexual innuendos and smart assed remarks to each other. Boring. The only one I did like is My Name is Earl which was cancelled.
I love me some sitcoms, and will watch just about any of em. Last season I finally gave up on Two and a Half Men and Mike & Molly, but had stuck with them for a while. That’s how much I like sitcoms. I DVR them in single blocks so I don’t miss the transitions between them.
How I Met Your Mother / Two Broke Girls
Meh. 'Mother is okay but not great, while 'Girls is aggressively unfunny. I really like Kat Dennings (in other things) though, so I’m sticking it out. The one thing I can’t understand is how she looks so fat. Either that horrible waitress uniform is the worst-fitting thing ever or she gained a ton of weight. (She was pretty darn skinny in her leaked nudie pics.)
New Girl / Raising Hope
Love Zooey Deschanel, but New Girl isn’t particularly good. Good enough that it doesn’t detract from my anticipation of this block. Raising Hope is stellar, one of my favorite sitcoms, if not my favorite. The most recent episode with the improv troupe doing Jimmy’s play at the end was concentrated win. I also have liked Shannon Woodward since The Riches.
Last Man Standing / Cougar Town
I like the tomboy daughter from 'Man largely because she was so good last season on Justified. I tend to only watch the scenes with the daughters and fast forward through the work scenes. Cougar Town was my favorite sitcom the past two seasons, but Happy Endings began to supplant it last year.
The Middle / Suburgatory / Modern Family / Happy Endings
Best block by far. Love the Middle, liking Suburgatory quite a lot, really like Modern Family, and Happy Endings is competing with Raising Hope for my favorite current sitcom. Neil Flynn is the greatest, though the entire cast of The Middle is top notch.
Whitney / Are You There, Chelsea?
Hated Whitney until the “caught masturbating” episode, which I thought was stellar. Have enjoyed the show far more ever since. 'Chelsea is watchable. Sadly I had to bail on this block entirely now that Survivor is back on, since my DVR can only record two things at once.
Big Bang Theory / Rob
'Bang has lost some of its luster for me, but still solid. Rob is a 10-minute FFWD-fest, but some of it is watchable.
30 Rock / Parks & Recreation / The Office / Up All Night
30 Rock, like Big Bang Theory, has lost much of its luster. Parks & Rec is still pretty good but not the best, and the Office is less FFWD’ed now that Michael Scott is gone. I just couldn’t take scenes with him. Which brings me to Up All Night, where I love the leads but end up FFWDing an awful lot because I can’t take a lot of the uncomfortable humor.
Pretty sure it was canceled last season, though I’d love to be wrong about that.
How many episodes did that go up to? 6 or so? I wasn’t particularly impressed in the beginning either, but by the end of the first season it had won me over and in season 2 it became one of my all time favorites.
You’re a little behind the times. The better sitcoms no longer have laugh tracks. None of the ones I watch; “30 Rock”, “Modern Family” and “Raising Hope” have the canned laughter. The last sitcom I watched that had laughter was “Seinfeld”, but that was filmed with a real audience.
Raising Hope is by Greg Garcia and could almost - if you squint a bit - be set in Camden County.
If you liked “Earl” you should at least watch “Raising Hope”. It’s another Greg Garcia product and there have even been a number of cameos from actors (or characters) from “Earl”.
My list:
How I Met Your Mother (about the only sitcom with a laugh track I’ll watch)
New Girl
Raising Hope
The Middle
Modern Family
Happy Endings
Community
Parks and Rec
I spend most nights surfing the internet with the TV going about ten feet away. TV shows are divided into these groups:
Stop Looking At Computer, Attend to TV Show
- Modern Family
- Parks And Rec.
Try TO Follow TV Show But Internet Mostly Wins
- Raising Hope
- New Girl
- 30 Rock
- Happy Endings
- How I Met Your Mother
- Whitney ( I thought last night’s was the best ep I’ve seen yet)
Shows That Are On But I Barely Attempt To Watch.
Anything that precedes or follows the shows above.
Sitcoms I Watch (and love) On DVD because I’m To Cheap To Get Cable
- Curb Your Enthusiasm
- It’s Always Sunny…
I usually try to catch Cougartown, New Girl, Raising Hope, Are You There, Chelsea, Whitney, Modern Family, Happy Endings, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, and Up All Night.
Cougartown, New Girl, Raising Hope, Happy Endings, Parks and Rec and Up All Night are my favorites and I try to catch them when they air as much as possible. The others I’m just as happy watching on hulu over the weekend. Fox shows have the added hurdle of Fox being an ass about their online releasing schedule so I’m usually pretty inflexible on what I do on Tuesdays at 8.
my faves:
-how i met your mother
-always sunny in philidelphia
-the office
-parks and rec.
-the middle
-modern family
-curb your enthusiasm
will watch if nothing else is on:
-2 broke girls
-whitney (mainly for the interactions between whitney and the guy playing her BF, the rest sucks)
-are you there chelsea? (mainly for laura prepon but its getting harder and harder to watch)
-rob
How did I forget Louie? I guess I don’t think of it as a sitcom. It’s in it’s own category.
Raising Hope
Archer (“Corinth is famous for its leather!!!”)
Suburgatory
