Sitcoms You Hate But Everyone Else Seems To Love

For me, it’s Night Court, and Home Improvement. Just couldn’t stand either one of them. I still can’t even stand to look at Tim Allen because of that show. IMO, both of them were incredibly lame with no humor in them at all. But I knew/know a LOT of people that watched them regularly and thought they were hilarious.

What popular sitcoms do you find so unfunny it hurts?

Everybody Love Raymond makes me want to claw my eyes out. I can’t stand it - I’ve never made it through more than about 3 or 4 minutes and I have to turn it off.

And it was on for like 8 seasons or some shit. God people are demented.

Will & Grace. Never elicited even a chuckle from me.

Everybody Loves Raymond, Will & Grace, Dharma & Greg, and Scrubs spring to mind for me.

I know the first three have their legions of detractors (of which I’m gladly a member!), but Scrubs just falls flat for me… I really don’t think it’s funny, and find the characters to be irritating.

Friends. My lord do I hate this show. So unfunny, so predictable, so cheesy, so everything bad. And people not only enjoyed it, they thought it was some sort of cultural touchstone and example of great humour. IT SUCKS!

Whew. Thank you.

Seinfeld. This is the one show that ever actually made me want to get rid of my TV altogether. To this day, I can’t understand how anyone could have liked this putrid slop.

Amen to that. Also add in Friends and Mad About You, with a sprinkling of Everybody Loves Raymond for flavour.

I’ll second Seinfeld and Friends, especially Seinfeld. I’m afraid I’m just not amused by obnoxious, self-important New Yorkers. On the other hand, the last sitcom I loved was Sports Night and I can’t wait for Adam Sorkin’s next one.

Pretty much everything mentioned so far. Ill kick in pretty much every sitcom I have ever seen.

I dont know why, I find lots of stuff funny, but I just cant find sitcoms funny, everything is so forced. Maybe it is the laugh tracks and stupid situations? I dont seem to have the same problems with movies for the most part [except garbage like southpark and beevis and butthead type crap :frowning: ] I will admit that I found ALF hysterical dubbed in german, mainly because I had seen that particular episode in english and it was just one of those things.

I’d just like to point out that the ads under the mention of ALF are all for cat products!

Can anyone explain why Yes, Dear and Raymond were on for so freakin’ long?!?! And count me in with never getting Friends. For all the reasons already mentioned, along with the burdon of knowing Davis Schwimmer’s face. ERg.

Seinfeld
Everybody loves Raymond (except Khadaji)
Will and Grace

There are plenty of others that I didn’t enjoy, but these I hated.

Add another vote for Seinfeld. Everyone on that that show was so mean and unlikeable, I don’t understand why it was so popular.

Home Improvement was a huge hit in the Midwest. It was probably as popular around here as Seinfeld was in New York.

Forgot to add: I think Wierd Al Yankovic had it right when he referred to this show as “Everybody Tolerates Raymond.” I don’t know anyone who will admit to being a fan of this show.

In case you somehow hadn’t heard, Aaron (not Adam) Sorkin’s next one. The description makes me think “Sports Night on the set of Saturday Night Live.” But oh what a cast!

I’ll admit it; I thought it was hillarious.

I’m looking forward to this one - I hope it lives up to the potential.

The classic shows I hate that everyone else reveres:
I Love Lucy
Green Acres
The Beverly Hillbillies
Gilligan’s Island

Most of mine have already been mentioned:

Seinfield – mean and unlikeable, I can deal with. Stupid, I cannot. It doesn’t help that it has Jason Alexander, the black hole of comedy: not only does he suck, but he suckitude affects anyone within his event horizon.
Everybody Loves Raymond – How could anyone love a jerk like him?
Home Improvement – reads like the blueprint for a third rate comedy that once appeared in Mad Magazine.
Will & Grace – Why this didn’t set gay rights back a half-century, I don’t know.
According to Jim – The clearest proof that the wrong brother died of an overdose. Jim is a first-class jerk who treats his wife like crap, and she takes it because the script says he is, by definition, wacky and loveable.

I don’t really hate Friends, though I am unimpressed by it. Still, the cast is very good outside of the show (except for Matt Leblanc).

Gotta admit, I agree with this one. I just found Lucy’s character so damn annoying if I were married to her I’d be divorcing her or slapping her or sleeping with one of the Cubano chorus girls at the club to avoid being home.

Yes, I acknowledge how groundbreaking it was. That’s fine. That doesn’t make it funny to me.
