Six Degrees of.....

Because no-one else has started one, I thought i’d start up a 6D thread. I would guess most of you know how this works already, but in case you don’t; I give you two names of actors, singers, celebrities, fictional characters and the like, and you try to connect the two through other people that have appeared with them on the same show/same song/are related to someone/etc. The person that can link the two in the shortest amount of links gets to suggest the next two names.

The best possible way would be an a link of one; for example if I asked you to link Bruce Willis and Sam Jackson, you could point out they both appeared in Die Hard 3 (or Unbreakable). If I asked you to link Kermit the Frog and Bruce Willis, you could go

  • Kermit the Frog appeared on the Muppet Show, which Frank Oz provided voices for;
  • Frank Oz also played Yoda in the most recent two Star Wars films, alongside Sam Jackson;
  • Who as previously mentioned has a few ways directly to Bruce Willis.

Easy as pie. So here we go;

Link for me Homer Simpson and Helen Hunt.

Too easy. See Episode 5F12 here.

How about linking Greta Garbo with Greta Scacchi.

Damn. I did do a cursory check to see if she’d been on it or not, but clearly it wasn’t enough of one. :wink:

Greta Garbo and Greta Scacchi:

Garbo was with Fredric March in Anna Karenina (1935)
Fredric March was with Richard Burton in Alexander the Great (1956)
Burton was with John Hurt in Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984)
And John Hurt was with Greta Scacchi in White Mischief (1987)

My suggestion for the next one: Two detectives, Peter Falk and Basil Rathbone.

Basil Rathbone appeared in *Sherlock Holmes in Washington * with Nigel Bruce.

Nigel Bruce appeared in *Lassie, Come Home * with Roddy McDowell.

Roddy McDowell appeared in an episode of Columbo (Short Fuse) with Peter Falk.
Next: two Santa Clauses, **Edmund Gwenn ** and Paul Giamatti.

Edmund Gwennstarred in Miracle on 34th Street, Natalie Wood’s first film.
Natalie Wood’s last film was Brainstorm, opposite Christopher Walken
Christopher Walken provided the voice for Det. Vince Magnotta in the video game Ripper, which also featured, as the voice of Dr. Bud Cable, ** Paul Giamatti**

Ta da! :smiley:

Okay - two Queen Elizabeths - Dame Judi Densch and Helen Mirren

Weren’t they both in a version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream? I think it was made in the sixties…

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner!

Your turn.

It’s not my turn, but let’s have some fun.

Tom Glavine (who is from my hometown, btw) and that monkey from Friends.

Huzzah! Go vague memories from the past!

Um… two stars of cult musicals where they dressed in drag…
Tim Curry and John Cameron Mitchell

bbs2k, I have never seen Friends, but I am positive that at least one person on the show has been on Letterman at some point, and so has Glavine. I normally hate to use these types of steps as they’re too easy, but I think it’s probably the best when you use nonactors. Someone else is welcome to go the more obscure route.

actually, that monkey was the “star” of Outbreak with Dustin Hoffman - so I’m guessing that’s the route to take…but I am not in a position right now to do the research, so someone else have at it.

Mitchell appeared with Michael Pitt in Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Pitt appeared with Sandra Bullock in Murder by Numbers
Bullock appeared with Kiefer Sutherland in The Vanishing
And Sutherland and Tim Curry appeared together in The Three Musketeers

Next one: Two geniuses of comedy, Charlie Chaplin and Graham Chapman

Charlie Chaplin appeared in *Modern Times * with Paulette Goddard.
Paulette Goddard appeared in *The Snoop Sisters * with Charlie Callas.
Charlie Callas appeared in *Silent Movie * with Marty Feldman.
Marty Feldman appeared in an episode of *At Last the 1948 Show * with Graham Chapman.

Okay, let’s try a couple of athletes who made movies, Jim Thorpe and The Rock.
