This time around, it’s A Concordance, Vol. I, a summary and reference guide to the first 4 books plus the Roland short story in Everything’s Eventual. Covers every name, place, map, timeline (to every extent possible that we’re aware of), chronology, geneology, etc. King has a new intro, stuff about the next three books is hinted at, and we get something new to read. King describes it as “fan only”, as some stuff is kinda tedious, but SK said he had fun reading it*.
*He didn’t write it. He got a professor friend to find someone to do a concordance for him for his personal use when writing the last three books, and he enjoyed it so much he released it publicly. Also, the author has an “R.F.” name! How cool is that?
I bought it, completist that I am (or try to be). Was a bit disappointed to see that it’s #1 of 2. Why not release both of them at the same time?
Haven’t looked at it yet though.
There was a selection from Wolves of the Calla in the McSweeney’s Mammoth Treasury of Thrilling Tales (or something like that) – sort of whetted my appetite, even though I’m still a bit ticked that he’s revising all these stories.
