Skald the Rhymer is annoying

I just write a long and thoughtful response to your “ha”, when I suddenly felt a “whoosh” of fresh air and got the joke…

Here ya go.

Okay. I think I see what’s going on.

I have communicated really poorly, and I’m sorry. Stupid “y’all.”

There are some folks here who I do think are factually incorrect. There are other folks who are creeped out. While there’s some overlap between the two groups, it’s only the former, and not the latter, that I have any issue with. (There are also the furious dimwits who just want to stir up trouble; I have issues with them as well, of course, but they’re a third group).

But I did not explain that well. It sounded to a lot of folks like I meant, “If you’re creeped out by Skald’s posts, you’re crazy.” And that’s not what I meant, not at all. My “y’all” wasn’t directed at everybody, not by a long shot; but it sure sounded to folks like it was.

I apologize for expressing myself so poorly, and I hope this clarifies what I meant to say.

Y’know, maybe I need to go further than that.

When I came across this thread, I was curious and confused: what were people seeing in those threads that I wasn’t? When I saw Penfeather’s list, I finally figured, okay, now I’ll see it!

But I looked at those links and realized what a distorting, misleading claim Penfeather was making about Skald (not about her own reaction, but about Skald’s writing). And that’s where I think I went wrong: I incorrectly assumed that I’d just seen everyone’s reasons for being mad at Skald. So I probably was dismissive of people.

Since then, folks have shown me that they are creeped out for reasons tangential to Penfeather’s misleading list. I apologize for being dismissive of folks’ reactions.

Last apology in a row: the “mean girls” phrase was probably a bad idea, intended to suggest that morgenstern et al were behaving like gossipy teenagers. However, it buys into a stereotype, and even at the time I knew it was probably a bad idea. Shouldn’t’ve done it.

Sorry, and I retract the phrase.

Because your application to ***the mean girls club ***was returned with “DENIED” stamped on it?

We may have no rules, no standards, no leaders, and no class, but we still have our mission. We even worship the Oxford comma.

Our charter was signed in the blood of trolls like you Octaputz.

A few things. I respect that you were willing to sacrifice so much on this hill for your friend. Loyalty is a great thing, but blind loyalty - not so much.

Mean girls club. We’re not letting go of that. Thank you for giving us that.

I’m not the leader. We don’t need no stinkin’ leader. We have the truth. You can’t stand the truth we defend. We are the mean girls club. We are red, white and blue.

PS, your application has been delayed because we have no committee to review it. We’re that unorganized.

I don’t dislike Skald, but I hardly consider him a friend. I don’t think I’ve exchanged more than a dozen posts, and probably considerably fewer, in the two decades I’ve been on these boards. I have had far more friendly interactions with you than I have with him.

This isn’t about loyalty to a friend, much less blind loyalty; it’s about the reasons I’ve already given.

Given that you sit near the head of the mean girls table, maybe you want to sit this one out. Or are you going to do your girl detective thing and start locating people’s real world names and addresses? Your personal history of never seeing a pile-on you didn’t like and being one of the main participants in that thread at that other board really points towards “low profile” rather than “righteous indignation” as your preferred course.

Then go in peace LHoD. I’ll consider this closed.

I tagged you as mean girls in your own snark thread months ago. That was when y’all were wallowing in the Shagnasty thread. There was also some drama because at least one of your most enthusiastic members was transitioning into off-board stalking.

Sorry for not crediting you with the meme. Unfortunately, it’s too late to do anything about it, the announcements are already at the printers.

Nope, no misogyny to see here folks. Nope, none at all.

I realize this is like pointing out someone’s shoe is untied while their hat is on fire, but there is some man hate’n going on in this thread too.

I love you, Scumpup

Exasperation maybe, with a side of frustration.

Thank you, Left Hand of Dorkness.

I honestly had no idea that “mean girls” is so universally considered misogynist. Has Tina Fey or Rosalind Wiseman addressed that point?

No, no, NO! What the hell is this shit? You all hate each other, remember? Keep it going!

I think we’re seeing it more in a Tanya Harding, Lindsey Lohan way. Not a gender thing. But I see your point.
