I don’t need to give the vic a name or face to object to your scenario. You just described harassment (also sexual harassment).
It’s not analogous though. A better (still imperfect) analogy might occur if someone I knew (with a face) found out there was a BDSM club downtown. Or, to make it even more realistic, a mystery novel reading circle. My friend objects to it. I would tell her - don’t go then. No, actually I wouldn’t say that. We’d probably launch into a discussion of consent, free choice, fictional treatment of violence, and maybe Agatha Christie and Isadora Alman. But the underlying presumption would be that people can freely do what they want as long as there is consent.
I don’t have a problem with content advisories. I said so upthread. There was no bondage or the like in Skald’s latest hypothetical, but I haven’t seen any of his critics sign off on it. So there’s something else going on, or so I infer.
ETA: Let’s see if I can communicate better. I could understand why someone of any gender has a problem with a downtown BDSM club. It’s more of a challenge for me to understand why folks have problems with murder mystery novels.
The response to treating the issue as real and treating the concerns as real belie the premise of your question. Chimera, LHoD, myself were all immediately attacked on a variety of grounds including racial and gender for proposing mechanisms for avoiding troubling content. The existence of a forum devoted to gossip and generating gossip is further evidence. Not to mention specific posts talking about intent on that forum.
So yes, I’ll concede the obvious. Skald’s postings quite often strike certain readers as offensive. I don’t like his posts. So, I don’t read them.:eek::eek::eek: But the current activity in this thread strongly implies that that is a desired feature and not a bug. The feature being a hook to use to generate snark content.
The redirection, the projection, the inaccurate tu-quoque, the consistent ad-hominems, the gas lighting, the __________ fallacies are all part of the game for you folks. If you wanted a solution you had it 2-3 posts after the complaint was lodged.

Ok. On my side for evidence is a forum whose entire purpose is inter-board gossip. Additional evidence are your and several of the people posting in this thread and elsewhere in the Pit and on the SDMB in order to bait or otherwise generating snark worthy content. The presence of that particular sub-forum is axiomatic and makes formal proof redundant.
The evidence on your side are nothing more than your repetitious terms of “troll”, “octoputz”, etc.
Nominally, as conceded, Skald has some questionable behavior. The response you and your cohort provide, again, demonstrate a lack of sincerity. You came looking for a fight and to stir up drama.

octopus, I think you went too far in generalizing. Just because someone posts on the other board doesn’t mean they have been a participant in riffing on Skald’s philias and idiosyncrasies for their own parasitic amusement.
Thing is, the humanity is an extremely nasty species, and for all we know there could be a private group that is completely secretive whose members do the same things. So as long as their scruples are so advanced :rolleyes: that they don’t doc-drop people, it’s better to treat them as if their immature forum only existed in our imaginations.
We’ve got this thread, the OTRU, your own Pit thread, and the snark thread here. There’s plenty of snark right here, in other words. You seem really fixated on that board, but it’s not the genesis of anything new or different.
Yes, a lot of stuff in the pit is awful as well. I lurked for a couple years before posting because in large part it took awhile to get used to how horrible it is the way some are gossiped about.
