There’s a Heineken commercial where a man is ready to drink the last Heineken at a party, and a woman appears, looking as if she wants the last bottle. The man debates whether he should give up the bottle for this woman he seems attracted to. Then he sees that there’s more cases of beer on the way… and gives it to the woman who thinks he is doing it out of generosity.
The thing is, the woman is extremely skinny. I mean to a point where she looks as if she has a problem. At least IMHO, and a friend of mine’s HO. I don’t know what to think, but she thinks it’s horrible. I wouldn’t have a problem if the woman was a little, (or even flat out) overweight, and I happen to think that there are a lot of women who are very skinny by nature. I used to get mad at people who made fun of Clarista Flockhart for being skinny and not for being a bad actress, or being on an incredibly stupid show. She thinks it sends young women the wrong message. I think it would send the wrong message not to, at times, show a range of different people on TV. I know they don’t do this much with plus size women, esspecially in commertials for beer.
What do you guys and gals think? Do you think there have been improvments of showing thincker women on the TV? Anyone see this commerial? Are we too hard on skinny people who could just naturally be that way? If there are medical reasons for people to be extremly skinny by nature, what are they?
