This word originated in Japan, as a portmanteau of sorts of the two words “skin” and “kinship”. As you can almost tell without any explanation, it refers to the physical intimacy of touch between relatives - and the context of the word is affectionate but not sexual. Examples are a mother and her baby, or a parent bathing a child, or things like holding hands or hugging.
I love this word, and I love the idea that a culture where English is not a first language was able to make up a word that works so well in English.
So I was wondering if anyone knows of other examples where a culture foreign to a language has made up a new word in that language that makes sense to the native speakers of that language. Not borrowed words, but new words made out of existing words or complete neologisms, or something of that nature.
Or, to simplify:
Culture A does not speak Language B natively, but culture A has made up a new word in Language B that native speakers in Language B will understand and appreciate.
