No, and for the reasons I gave in my first post. Even if we’re charitable and run with your “But, I didn’t ask people to e-mail me!” hairsplitting, then your OP was a simple declaration followed by a lack of discussion. Threads are not justified by their mere existence alone.
But, seeing as the above is what you said, somehow I don’t think charity comes into play here.
I’ve been waiting months for someone to start a suitable Pit thread about SkipMagic so I can rip him to shreds over something I’m still mad at from 4 months ago – unfortunately, this one ain’t it.
If you Mods fold and re-open chowder’s thread I demand you re-open Small British Shop Owner’s “A series of interesting threads” thread. That was a damn handy resource for all the interesting thread spotters out there.
Even if it wasn’t for the fact that Winston Smith has been a member for such a long time and should have known better, common sense should have told him that starting his thread was not a very wise move.
I was just trying to be funny. (Hey, I thought it was funny). And I didn’t think it was enough of a transgression to merit an Official Warning™. Oh, well.
So what I’m seeing here is…if someone who had received the links from me and after looking at the sites decided to return to my thread , give opinions on how good/bad the sites were then the thread would not have been closed because there then would then have been some discussion.
Right?
BTW there was no hairsplitting at all, I did not ask people to email me.
I said IF they wanted to they could, and they did.
Let’s have some of that charity, re-open the thread and stop being so “I’m a mod and my word is law”
If he reopens it the other mods will tease and make fun of him. And even worse, they’ll take away the pit-points that this thread has earned him. They’ve already taken a few away due to Sapo’s weak pit.
Would a large tropical spider make you feel any better?
I know, we gotta have some fun here. I agree with you, I don’t see the harm in opening the thread back up. But that ain’t my choice. Goodluck with the continued effort to convince them otherwise.
By the way, you seem like this is a very serious and passionate subject. I was understanding the initial pitting for closing the thread, but I am genuinely surprised by your persistance in trying to get it reopened. You’ve explained why it should be reopened well, but why do YOU want it reopened so much?
(Oh, and I suspect they do really keep track of pit-points on a casual level.)
