Sky Pumpkins - Anybody Else Following the Saga?

Just a silly viral story of an enthusiastic pumpkin vine that climbed a tree and then set fruit. I have grown quite a few pumpkins over the years and had never grokked that the vines might do this. Now the owner is trying to find someone to help her get them safely down from their 30ft perch.

Given the tiny access to her back yard, I’m thinking a ladder tied to the tree trunk is going to be the only option. anyway, it’s a fun little thought experiment, and an amusing distraction I thought I would share.

This happened in my husband’s yard when he was a kid - his brother carved a pumpkin and threw the pumpkin innards over the back fence. Some vines sprouted the next spring and ran up a couple of the trees. Best course of action is to not walk around under the tree until they come down on their own.

Especially if the pumpkin weighs over 2300 pounds.
