OK so I’ve heard the buzz about being able to get Skyrim mods directly via Steam…
So how the hell does that actually work? I’ve been banging my head against a wall here googling things like “skyrim mods via steam” and “how to get skyrim mods on steam”. Maybe I’m just a dummy. Maybe there isn’t actually that much info on it yet. I’m prepared for either.
Help a gamer out.
What is the deal specifically with Skyrim mods being available via Steam? Is that a pipe dream never to be realized? Or is it not available yet? Or am I doing it wrong?
eta: I’ve also searched on Steam for “Skyrim Workshop”, “Skyrim Mods”, and just plain old “Skyrim” getting nothing but the game and strategy guide.
Try “Steam Workshop” +Skyrim and you’ll get a lot of links. (I’d link you directly but I’m not sure if you want articles, forums, official site or whatever.) It sounds like it will be easy to just pick up your mods through Steam and should be live with or shortly after the Creation Kit, which is coming out any day now.
You may want to look for the Skyrim Mod Manager. I have used similar programs for Oblivion and the two latest Fallout games, and a lot of popular mods even require you to use them. I’m pretty sure that the mod manager is the standard way to install most fan-made modifications these days.
It will also let you easily tweak more settings than what you’ll find in the in-game menus.
