I teach in a college, and a year or so ago I used the term “tossed salad” in a lecture. Twice. Giggling in the back of the room every time. I said, “What? Is that something dirty now?” More giggling, and one student told me it was too embarrassing to explain but that I should google it later, so I did.
I’ll never utter those two words together in a classroom again.
