Last week, a friend of mine introduced me to the genre of literature known as slash fanfict. I read some of it and I was intrigued! While I do not find homo-erotic literature arousing, the concept of deeper involvement between well know characters fascinated me, so much so that I went ahead and wrote a story of my own. If there are any dopers out there who share an interest in this species of literature, send me an e-mail to weirddave0@hotmail.com (that’s the numeral zero at the end, not the letter “o”) and I’d be happy to share it with you and eager to get your opinion on my story. I may write more in the future, and if you like this one I’d be happy to share those, also. Also, please let me know if you want the PG-13 version of the story or the full fleged one. I wrote it so it works both ways.

What characters is your fanfic about? I would be interested in reading it. And no editing for me. I want the real thing.

OOC, why slash fanfics in particular? I mean, if homo-erotic literature isn’t for you, there’s plenty (and I mean plenty) of hetero-erotic (heterotic?) fanfics out there as well. Or non-sexual fanfiction for that matter…

There was no particular reason I chose slash. It was just what I was introduced to. I don’t find it sexually arousing, but I do find other aspects of it very intriguing. I like the idea of finding hidden motivations and deeper levels of existing characters that have never been previously expressed. A fanfict about, say, a liason between Capt. Janeway and Cmdr. Chakote is mundane, normal. What’s the fun in that? Now Janeway and, say Kes, well, that’s an entirely different can of worms. At least to me, anyway. The other way I feel I may as well be writing “Dear Penthouse Letters. I am a student at a large eastern university, and I never thought these letters were real until last night…” BLeh! Pure Vanilla!

And even moreso a Chakotay/Tuvok one. Yeeeee.
