Sleep? What's that? Quizzing the MMP

Thank you for your graciousness in saying I’m not boring the pants off you. What an odd expression. Imagine if every time people got really bored, their pants came off. Long line at the post office? Obligatory annual workplace safety meeting? Dull sermon at church? Whoosh. Gasp. Giggle.

Sari, I so enjoy Tales From the Dog Park. It’s like a little community full of colorful characters, interesting anecdotes, and the occasional scandal. Scritches to Echo, who was a Very Good Dog today. Also, please forgive me, but I’ve forgotten what OAOASO stands for.

Maybe it’s not the accent so much as the person using it.

MetalMouse, you speak truth, as always. I wonder if there’s some way to get to this surgeon’s team’s line. I’m so tired of trying to talk to someone who has answers.

I gave them a cookie. After all, they live with me and otherwise they’ll be pissed off AND hungry. They were willing to keep down the noise after that. I’m up to ten bin bags of decluttering, that helps too. My son helped dispose of them, he actually likes chores. So could be worse I guess.
Hope yours will be placated as well .
Nellie keep pestering that doctor and venting here.
shoe that looks fabulous!
Butters go easy. One step at the time.
Everyone, have a good day !

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

On Again Off Again Significant Other

shoe, mmmmmmmmm…smoked meats…
And being in the South, my Wisconsin accent just gets me mistaken for Canadian. Weird, eh? :canada:

This is what I’ll keep a mental image of for my next meeting. Thank you

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 32 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 66 and N.O.S. Today we procure provisions. Sup shall be ham 'n tater soup with carrots and onions so’s I can use up the rest of the ham. Sloth, nappage, and general uselessness shall occupy the rest of the day.

Nellie keep buggin’ to doc as often as you need to. You deserve answers to your questions.

shoe nice lookin’ briskets. Use that southern accent to every advantage. I could try the eyebrow flutter but with me it just looks like I have some kind of awful twitch.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and bother of bothers, I suppose I must then purtify and don appropriate bein’ amongst the public attire. Woe is me.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Yeah, right - you just wanted to show off your ring! :stuck_out_tongue:
And now I want to get a brisket into my smoker, but I’ll wait till it’s just a tad warmer outside so the smoker doesn’t have to work too hard.

hmmmm, I have some ham, but I was going to use it in bean soup, but this sounds good, too. Is it your own recipe or do you perhaps have a link?? < puppydog eyes >

I was sleeping hard when the alarm went off at 6 and startled the bedoobies outta me! Glad I showered last night - daughter texted just before 6:30 that they were leaving. Had I not been pre-cleaned, I might have been in my unders instead of finishing breakfast. Then the drive to the school was foggy!! Fortunately, it’s starting to get light around that time, since my night-driving skillz are marginal at best. Correction - I can drive fine, just not at the speed limit because of visibility issues with oncoming headlights. Anyway, increased daylight helps.

FCD sees his surgeon (or the PA?) at 9 this morning. And after I return Toby to his mom, I need to run to Food Lion - Diet Coke is on sale (4/$10) and I need to stock up again. So that’s pretty much my plans for the day. Exciting, huh?

Oh, and yesterday when FCD went to the marina, he also went to see the folks who do boat canvas about replacing our bimini top. Our boat is bigger so the bimini is bigger and in 2 pieces with lots of zippers. We need to get the old one from the boat so they can have a look and give us an estimate. We’ll drive to Oxford either Fri or Sat, depending on the weather.

But for now, Happy Wednesday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! I completely neglected you all yesterday…life and irk got in the way.

nellie keep bugging Tammy and the surgeon if you’re not happy with what they’ve told you or what you’re feeling. It’s up to them to get their instructions straight, and to listen to you when you’re telling them about pain levels. If it doesn’t feel right, or doesn’t match what they tell you to expect, keep making those calls.

nut conga-rats on The Thing! I knew you could do it. I bet it was the influence of the cake  Moving to Scotland will be fun too, beautiful part of the world to be going to.

plant doc sorry to hear you’re having a tough time, decluttering can be very therapeutic too. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and keep checking in here so we know you’re ok. And that goes for VanGo too, and the rest of you!

Wordy hope things go ok with your mum

I feel for all of you who’ve had so many problems with Wills and estate disposal - that is one reason my mum never let my brother have a key to her flat, and why she insisted that I took all of her jewellery away before she died. I am sure she knew when she didn’t have long left, we spent a lot of weekends going through her jewellery boxes, photographs and various other things that she didn’t want my brother getting his grubby mitts on.

Nothing like starting the day with Poopy McCrappypants! Toby done himself proud! OK, part of the problem is that Daughter switched from disposables to the cloth diapers and they’re still a tad big on him. But lucky me - I got to clean it up - including his teeny tiny little sweatpants. Here’s hoping he’s empty now.

:grimacing:

FCD just left for his appointment. Sounds like the young 'un is awake again, so off I go!

FCM, sorry to hear about the poops - I remember using cloth with my son and those things had a way of letting the poop just shoot up his back and down his legs. I’m guessing I wrapped them wrong, but it was like black magic.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day. Nellie, I agree with you about having a chat directly with the surgeon or his PA. I hope things get better and that you don’t have to play telephone again today.

Getting ready to pick up the mom unit - usually a chemo day involves a blood draw, doctor’s appointment and then chemo, which they say takes about a half hour, which is true, but only if you don’t include the anti-nausea and steroid IV in that equation. So it’s pretty much a half-day excursion. Hopefully my pants don’t come off. Chemo is surprisingly unexciting. Not that that is a problem - I’d much rather it be relatively mundane than as bad as it’s been made out to be.

Ah, well - off to pack up. But first, time to slap on some makeup, brush the teeth, etc. shoe, that meat looks incredible. I second the request for pics once it’s done - it’ll just make me drool, but if I’m going to be pantsless at the infusion center, might as well be drooling from hunger, too.

Morning all. Newspaper retrieved and pills taken, will get dressed here in a minute and do my shopping for the day, then swimmin’ later. Haven’t been taking too many baths lately, showering at the gym leaves me relatively clean and smelling nice, but will probably bathe today because while a shower is a shower, a long hot bath is a soak…

Did manage to make a phone call on my new-fangled cellphone but trying to program in my e-mail led to the (*&%^&% thing going into safe mode and I can’t get it out. Wish there was a 'Phones for Dummies" class…hmmm, may have to check Google for that. I will persevere.

talkie, hope things go well with Mom-unit and you’re not too bored.

Sari, hopefully the dogs have all worked things out and Barky will get over his/her case of the nerves one way or another.

plant doc, hope the decluttering continues well; come the springtime I really need to haul everything out of my garage and decide what stays and goes.

shoe, not a BBQ -type guy, but I have to admit that looks pretty good.

OK, need to dress somewhat appropriately and head over to Wal-Mart. All y’all take care.

That seems to … defeat the purpose of diapers entirely.

Well, it’s a relatively balmy 37 F outside, but I see another single-digit night forecast for this weekend.

All y’all take care & stay safe out there.

Have you tried going back where you bought it and asking one of the employees? I recall FCD had to do that when he was new to smart phones.

The poop machine is snoozing. I still have a small supply of disposables, so I just may use them up while I can. At the rate he’s growing, they won’t fit much longer anyway. Meanwhile, I’m enjoying some quiet, waiting for lunch time.

Another short sort. And my car frosted over again, so I had to do a second de icing.

I read that as keep buggering your doc. :open_mouth:

Thursday (tomorrow) we’re having our first ‘staff retreat’. I’ve never been to one. (We did have a few ‘fun outings’ when I worked for Big Multinational Credit Reporting Company 20 years ago.)

8:30-9:00 Breakfast – don’t be late!
9:30-11:00 Meeting
11:00-11:15 Break
11:15-12:45 Meeting
12:45-1:30 Lunch
1:30-3:00 Meeting
3:00-3:15 Break
3:15-4:30 Meeting

Casual, comfortable but not slovenly. If you don’t know what slovenly means, you probably need to change your clothes… [B]ring a pad of paper and pen, pencil or crayon.

Bother. When I go to the orifice in Burien I usually get there around 07:30 or so. I leave around 15:15-15:30 because I have a long commute with Seattle traffic. It’s going to be a longer day. Also, I don’t like meetings. I hope they have bacon/sausages/eggs for breakfast, since I don’t eat pancakes or pastries or doughnuts.

Our sons had diapers like that occasionally, even with disposables. We used to refer to them as MOAD (Mother Of All Diapers). It’s amazing the amount of grossness you come to tolerate being a parent or grandparent.

No kidding. After his second bottle today, Toby decided he needed to spit up over himself and me, and my hand was right there to catch it. Ick. And cleaning diapers in the toilet falls squarely in the no-big-deal column. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do…

Lunch time - soup again - my soups get better as they sit, and this one is no exception! YUM!! Toby is quiet in his swing, and FCD is messing with our boat budget spreadsheet. Exciting times at FairyChatEstates!

Happy Hump Day!

Although my morning was a bit not so nice.
I got the dogs ready for daycare, went out, and I saw that the door to my truck wasn’t shut tight. I’m assuming I didn’t lock the door since nothing is broken, but somebody got into my truck last night and ransacked it.
I was PISSED. I HATE a thief, and I hate people who don’t know how to keep their hands off other people’s things.
Nothing in my truck worth stealing though. If you open the center console you will find a stack of masks, two boxes of tissues, and a lilly brush. The glove compartment has the owner’s manual and a plastic envelope with my registration, my emissions paperirk, paperirk of all service and repairs, and a partial roll of paper towels. One section of the center console has a pair of glasses and a hair brush. On the passenger floor is an ice scraper, a cup with some trash in it, and a bottle of spray cleaner.
So, all they did was make a mess.

Doggio got it, On Again Off Again Significant Other.
He has a pretty messed up family and the drama never ends. I never knew how he could stand it, but now I think he likes it. Or maybe addicted to it, because I believe people can get addicted to drama.
Or they get so used to it they don’t know how to live without it.

I have to call my doctor today because she gave me a new script. Her instructions and the instructions on the bottle aren’t the same.

I hardly ever use the email function on my phone. Only if I am expecting something important. About the only things I do are call, text, take pictures, play games, and look up info. I disabled all the social media apps. I have used it to sign documents, but that isn’t very often. Other than my phone ringing when I get a call or my Ring doorbell, I turned off all notifications. Most of the time my ringtone is set to vibrate, I only turn it up when my son is irking so I will hear his call when he gets off.
I love a nice phone, but they are probably wasted on me.
One of my technologies challenged friends went back to the store where she bought her phone and the people there were very nice at helping her figure it out.

Decluttering is always a good thing, I think. I felt so much better when I got a lot of stuff out of my house. It’s like you have room to breathe afterwards.

The brisket looks very good, made me hungry, Shoe.

I hope all goes well with your mom, Wordy.

Good luck with the doctor Nellie.

All this talk of cleaning up poopy butts is taking me to my un-happy place. My son had a gift - we’ll call it a gift. Oh the places he could poop. :sob:

talky It sounds like a hard and emotionally draining day. I also hope that your pants don’t come off. Why would your pants come off?

plant doc decluttering is soothing. It’s hard to get started, but it’s very satisfying to watch things leave.

doggio Well, you’d get the doc’s attention that way!

flyboy oh no. That looks bad. I’m cringing from here. Mostly because staff retreats tend to be very “rah-rah”, with some “fun” personality tests mixed in. Hang in there.

sari I’m sorry to hear about your truck. I hate that. The same thing happened to us a while back. They dumped our things in the street. I guess they were mad that we didn’t have anything they wanted.

boofae I hope your foot is doing better.

Nut which part of Scotland? I’ve only been to Edinburgh, which was lovely.

We talked to another mortgage broker yesterday. I sent information to a fourth and asked a bunch of questions that I’m waiting for answers on. I think my husband’s expectations are a bit ambitious, but we’re giving it a shot. The current plan is to buy a second home/vacation home in the PNW sometime this year. We’d rent it out when we weren’t using it. Sometime after that, we’ll buy a new primary residence and convert this one to a rental.

I should mention there’s a reasonable chance that I have long COVID, so dealing with the house stuff and the health stuff is a lot. Oh well, it is what it is, I guess.

Take care y’all. I always enjoy reading about your adventures.

I especially don’t like this bit:

  • What is something new you want to learn to do in 2022?
  • What do you want to do in your professional or personal life that is new or different?
  • And, what can we do to support you? Why?

I hate those sorts of questions. What doo I want to learn? I don’t know… Spanish? Ain’t gonna happen because I have no time. Professional life? It’s fine as it is. Personal life? I don’t know… Get more exercise? What can the company do to support me? That one’s easy. Let me telecommute fill time. Why? Because five hours of commuting when I go to the office is wearing me – end the car – out.

I called the clinic this morning and was able to leave a VM for my surgeon’s team. Hopefully they’ll call me back today. I thought the earlier I left it, the better, so I phoned as soon as I’d done my oral hygiene stuff. Silly me. Now I can’t shower until they call. I guess I’m not going anywhere anyway.

Moooom, hope FCD got some answers at his appointment. Please let us know how it went. And oh, those poopy diapers! Between my son’s birth and my daughter’s, those plastic pants with elastics at the legs went out, and diaper wraps came in. Those wraps don’t contain much. I couldn’t use them with her anyway, as the hospital ones had abraded her little thighs. I do miss those baby days, poop and all.

Same here. It sounds awful. My dad was a lawyer who’d dealt with many family feuds over wills and such, so he and Mom were very transparent about who got what and made it clear there was to be no squabbling. Luckily, all of us kids are tight, and any sibling rivalry ended with childhood. It only takes one.

sari, that’s awful about the break-in. Even though you didn’t lose anything, it’s a violation. Plus geez, kids, pick up after yourselves.

shoe, that’s one good-looking brisket!

MetalMouse, good luck with the phone. I second the suggestion to go back to the store. I got a lot of help that way.
