Sleep Wizard

Normally, I don’t look at pop-ups, but this one caught my eye. Maybe it’s because I have been accused by some (hi jeevwoman!) of snoring. Maybe it’s because my father was a lifelong snorer, and developed sleep apnea in his early 50s.

Anyway, has anyone ever used the Sleep Wizard? Is it for real, or just snake oil? Is it really uncomfortable to sleep in? Any side effects?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

My husband is the kind of snorer who can wake the children when they are in an entirely different part of the house. I read all about this and stupid me, thought - “Well, all these people say it works, maybe it does.” (Hey, I was desperate. I haven’t gotten a decent night’s sleep in the 6 years we’ve been married.) Well, maybe it works for some people, but definitely not my husband!! Eventually he just started ripping it off without even knowing it in the middle of the night. I couldn’t tell any difference between him wearing it or not. I need some sleep!!!

I don’t see how it would help. AFAIK, snoring is produced in the throat near the spot where (in medical terms) the food tubes meet the breathing tubes. Whether the mouth is opened or closed has nothing to do with it.

Not to mention that it’s a $60 item that can easily be duplicated with a $5 set of foam knee/elbow pads and the elastic straps from an old bra.

Have you tried just sewing a tennisball into the back of his shirt?

I thought it was the dogs that were snoring, dear. Or do you mean you are wondering whether it would work for them?

Go to your doctor. Have a sleep study done. If you have apnea, use the CPAP machine. Snoring stops. Waking up three times a night to go to bathroom stops. Your risk of heart attack drops. Your wife gets a good night’s sleep. You get a good night’s sleep.
