In this thead I said that I thought the name was awful. You are right, it’s my opinon and I’m entitled to it. I do think it’s an awful name, but you know what, I think my own name is awful too. Sherrie is not a name that anyone takes seroiusly.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who has that opinion and I certainly don’t get as offended as you did. I certainly didn’t intend to offend anyone, but maybe you’re just being a little too sensitive here.
I sure as hell wouldn’t judge a person by whatever their name is. I’m sure your father is a great guy, but not everyone is going to like the same things.
And i would think that you know better to go off like that in Cafe Society.
Now that is some good melodrama! If only he could have finished by stomping up the stairs in tears and slamming his bedroom door, the effect would have been complete.
This meltdown has been made possible by a generous grant from the Dirk Foundation. The Dirk Foundation, helping people jam their opinions about our name up their asses for fifteen years.
LOL this entire thread, specially Juanita and Lieu.
p.s. one of my favorite people from my childhood was my mother’s cousin Sherry, who wore men’s trousers (this was in the 50s and 60s), smoked like a chimney, and never shaved her legs. :: eek :: She frightened and awed the both of us in equal proportions, and when she died of cancer, we both truly grieved, feeling that a great light had gone out of the world. So don’t knock “Sherrie” as a name unworthy of respect, babe, 'cause for a while there in the Chicago suburbs, it was a name to conjure with.
Well, thanks. Ayn is my Mom’s name. I am so glad that you feel my Mom’s name is awful. I guess that, due to your opinion, I will never use Ayn as my daughter’s middle name. I mean, hey, Ayn sucks right. I guess my Grandmother was nothing but a stupid woman since she named her daughter Ayn.
