Well, it was the women or the sheep, and women dance better.
Since I started this thread, a story I was told by one of my grandmother’s friends (so long ago now) came to mind.
She had dated American soldiers and knew other women who had done the same. In one woman’s case the dating led to marriage and excitement at prospect of returning to the United States to live with her new husband. Everything she knew about America came from the movies. It all seemed so glamorous. Alas, when she arrived in the country she discovered her husband lived deep in a crocodile infested swamp with some really weird relatives. Deliverance with crocodiles I suppose. When she wanted to come home they tied her up to a stake. I can’t remember the end of the story. The moral is already there so I don’t think it matters.
