Slow Horses (careful about spoilers, please)

In the fourth episode, Shirley and Catherine prevent Jaffrey’s assassination but no one seems to acknowledge this, almost as if they were not believed. But if anyone had investigated after, they would have found the sniper rifle in that room overlooking the stage, along with that window removed.

Well to be fair this is all squeezed within a few hours of that. Yes teleportation has to be involved but that is standard.

Lamb openly said that he didn’t believe them until he started talking to River and the hoodie turtle.

Thanks. FYI, the guy in the hoodie is Coe.

He’ll always be DeBlanc or Fiore to me.

And it’s interesting that River’s grandfather remembered something that even Lamb didn’t - they do the honeytrap again. He probably wrote the destabilization strategy.

Perhaps they already did the honeytrap again? That might be the prostitute Claude Whelan gave money to.

I thought it was when she tricked them into running her malicious code.

I think that was the “blind the enemy” step.

That was my read too. She honey trapped again to accomplish the blinding.

One more episode to go, so in a week, we should see the resolution.

There is a new Slow Horses book out, Sept 4 2025
“Clown Town”

Exactly. She ran the code on Ho’s laptop the first time to get Whelan’s file, so she could figure out what character to play to get his sympathy - we saw from the earlier prostitute scenes that he’s into “rescuing” young women.

That’s why he’s at Slough House. He showed up for work in the wrong city. Wrong country, even.

Lamb was never in Berlin. The whole story was bullshit.

The story may be bullshit, but it’s been alluded to that he was in Berlin on business at some point in the past.

It was a large part of season one with Standish’s former boss etc.

That’s part of being assigned to the purgatory that is Slough House. Even if you do something right, it doesn’t matter, because you are never, ever going back to The Park. Giving credit would be antithetical to this policy. Lamb doesn’t want to pat anyone on the back, either. It might encourage them.

In episode five, I got a little tee-hee from the Batman joke to Commisioner Gordon.

And Season 2 with the Russians

Damn, I didn’t even notice that. Gary Oldman is such a chameleon.

I’m sure I can’t be the first to say this, but Lamb kind of is the logical end for James Bond’s career - a disillusioned alcoholic who’s been put into semi-retirement but is still better at his job
than anyone else in the agency. His Berlin story this season is practically from a Bond movie.

And aside, am I the only one annoyed by the need to spoiler everything until the season is done? It’s an episodic show released weekly. Maybe the people who wait until the season is over and then binge could, I don’t know, avoid reading the thread until they do? I’m sure they’re not clicking on “Slow Horses Episode 5 Huge Twist!” articles that pop up in their feed.
