You’re such a wiener. The snow on the sidewalks has melted enough to reveal the poopsicles lazy dog owners have left behind. Guess what I smell?
The signs of spring I’ve seen/heard so far:
-
the frogs in the swamp I live near are croaking, even in the snow;
-
seed catalogs in the mail, and seeds in the grocery store;
-
my apple and pecan trees are starting to bud.
Spring won’t be official until we have a tornado watch, though.
The snow on my patio has melted to reveal where my dog has been spending his outdoor time during our recent blizzard. I guess I wouldn’t want to squat in 3 feet of snow either.
It must be spring, I’ve started sneezing. And the irises have heads, although not many have bloomed yet.
I still feel kinda stabby, however.
Spring is in the air and that dirty snow is melting fast. After the mini hurricane I had a lot of fallen limbs and branches I picked up today. Still waiting for the crocuses to come up.
The damn snow is on its last legs here. It’s supposed to be almost 50 tomorrow, which should just about finish off all the snow except the big piles. I’m planning on listening to “Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye” as the snow is melting tomorrow. (I know, I’m a dork.)
I have windows wide open letting in the fresh air and when I make a quick run to the grocery store I will only need a light jacket…60ish here in Paris today!
You let wild birds in the house to use your computer??
It’s full spring here. The trees are pale green, the daffodils, forsythia, cherry trees and camellias are having tea parties all over the city. The air is soft and almost warm. The birds wake me every morning now, with their “look at me” songs.
It smelled like spring this morning, that wet-earth smell.
The snow has melted enough for me to see the garden in front of the house. There are crocuses in it.
We’re supposed to get rain today, and hopefully that will melt some more of the snow.
Another sign of spring: the coastal humidity made it’s first appearance this morning, after vacationing for the winter out in the 'Lantic. Thunderstorms in the forecast for the next couple of days, too. Bite me, snow!
You know it’s getting close to spring when the day passes while sporting a near-constant erection.
I didn’t have to scrape the ice off my windshield this morning.
I talked to my neighbors at the grocery store on Sunday and they said they had some flower shoots coming up in their yard. Of course, it was under the dryer vent, but you take what you can get.
Just as I opened this thread the sun came out and made me smile. It’s been in the 50’s here for the past two weeks, birds are starting to sing in larger numbers, I saw a newly arrived downy woodpecker about a week ago, the trees are starting to bud and my hyacinths are coming up. I love spring.
It’s raining a bit today, which I ordinarily do not like, but will allow because it will make the snow go away. The ground is no longer covered in ice, and I don’t have to walk to work in snow boots, then change into heels when I get to work. This pleases me.
I have now declared it spring. No long sleeves until November.
Loud & clear, I’m guessing from around 100 feet up, at 7:30 last night:
honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk honk
90 degrees today. And yes–I’m in the northern hemisphere.
Upper 60s, maybe even 70 yesterday and today. In the last week I’ve had crocuses and daffodils popping up right through the mulch that the landscapers spread out two weeks ago. Which reminded me that I’ve got marigold seeds to plant, although theoretically I’m supposed to wait until after the last frost date, which around here is late April.
I would feel less stabby if the first new growth I saw wasn’t a Dandelion in my front yard. Grrr.
I feel the same way.
But the thing that’s so nice about spring and fall is that the temperature goes between long-sleeve and short-sleeve weather every few days. That means I can put off doing laundry for even longer than I normally can. Anything that allows me to put off doing chores such as laundry is a good thing. “Never put off till tomorrow what you could put off till next week, or get out of doing entirely” is pretty much my motto when it comes to chores.
Today was the first day since last October that the top was down on the car. Always puts a smile on my face.
